In the aftermath of the Harris Smith incident, Michael Bloomberg -- the mayor of New York City -- is on a rampage, and the hospital where Harris Smith checked himself in is next on the mayor's hit-list. After stating that it would be an "outrage" if Harris Smith isn't given at least the minimum prison sentence for his concealed weapon and ensuing cover-up attempt, the mayor went after the hospital. The mayor also lashed out at New York Presbyterian Hospital for failing to inform police about the incident. He called on the state attorney general to "go after" the hospital for a "chargeable offense."The hospital reacted swiftly, no doubt trying to make an individual take the fall rather than the entire operation.
The district attorney's office said the hospital is under investigation. The hospital said it also is investigating the incident and promised to cooperate with authorities.
"We can confirm that the individual at New York Presbyterian Hospital, who was responsible for failing to report the incident, has been suspended," hospital spokeswoman Robinson said.As George Costanza once said, "this is like an onion, the more layers you peel, the more it stinks."
On one hand, it's a little difficult to completely blame the hospital employee. It was, after all, Plaxico who lied by giving a fake name and setting to the incident. You could see a fan of his getting starry-eyed and wanting to do everything he can to help out the star football player who caught the game-winning touchdown pass in the last Super Bowl.
On the other, the employee has to be smart enough to realize there's some foul play involved. Why would Plax have to lie if he didn't do anything wrong? Do you really want to be party to some illicit mischief, just because it might get you closer to a morally casual football star with poor judgment? I sure wouldn't.
A fireable offense? Probably not yet, which is why the hospital likely made the right move in a swift suspension. This way they cover themselves while making sure to not make a mistake in haste.
Finally, no word on the possible involvement of Applebee's vis-a-vis their relationship with the hospital employee and/or Harris Smith.

Dude is Dumb and Stupid. When you have big money you can't hang out with the locals. Dude should have been home working on his football injury. Just rent a girl or get an Atlanta Down Low Brotha and enjoy the evening. And go to the shooting range every now and then to know where the bullet comes out of the gun. Put Dude on the Dumbest Criminal TV show. And why do Negroes give millions of dollars back to their employers? The Lord knows who to give money to. Idiots, cause they won't have it long. Now he goes to jail and have to pay for protection. Please, somebody give these dumb athletes some type of Education. Please.
