Giants 23, Redskins 7: Washington Gets Pushed Around Again

One of the rallying cries for the Redskins during this season is that they are not the same team that were embarrassed by the Giants in Week 1. The team would win six of their next seven games and launch themselves into the playoff chase.

So when the Giants walked into D.C. today and pounded the Redskins, 23-7, you actually can tell what type of team Washington is.

Since their 6-2 start, they've lost at home to the Steelers, Cowboys and Giants in, basically, the same fashion: they were out-physicalled. The Giants dominated this game on both sides of the ball, controlling the ball for ten more minutes than the Redskins and racking up 404 yards of offense.

The Giants' defense did a good job, too. Clinton Portis, the NFL's leading rusher, gained just 22 yards. If not for a few scrambles by Jason Campbell and a 29-yard reverse to Devin Thomas, the Redskins would have gained just 25 yards on the ground.

Campbell threw his fourth interception in his last four games. Santana Moss hasn't caught a touchdown pass in five weeks. This is the Redskins' fourth loss at home and third in a row. Good thing they play three of their last four away from FedEx Field.

Their defense gave up Eli Manning's first 300-plus-yard game since Week 6 ... of last season!

For the Giants, this was another ho-hum game that leads into a tough stretch. The Giants host the Eagles next week, travel to a huge game in Dallas, host the Panthers before their season finale in Minnesota. All those teams are fighting their lives and for playoff spots.
