I wouldn't blame Romeo Crennel if he just went through the motions for the next month; after a promising 10-win campaign a year ago, and all the preseason hype this summer, the Browns are 4-8 and one of the most disappointing teams of 2008. According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, it'll take an act of God to keep Crennel in Cleveland after Dec. 28, the Browns' final regular season game. Specifically, Mort gazes into the ol' eight ball and surmises that, according to sources, "Crennel will need a miracle finish to save his own job." You don't say.
The big guy has the support of his players, but the same can't be said for general manager Phil Savage, who sorta sold Crennel down the river earlier this week.
As to Crennel's possible replacements, ESPN.com cites Bill Cowher, Marty Schottenheimer, and coordinators like the Jets' Brian Schottenheimer, the Giants' Steve Spagnuolo, the Titans' Jim Schwartz, the Falcons' Mike Mularkey and the Ravens' Rex Ryan.
I think it might've been easier to just tick off the guys the Browns aren't considering.

While some fans would love to see Cowher return to Cleveland (he was on Marty Schottenheimer's staff back in the 80s), at this point, I suspect Anybody But Crennel would be a welcome change. And as long as owner Randy Lerner is shaking things up, Savage should probably get the boot, too.
Oh, and it looks like Crennel's future with the team is now in the capable hands of third-string quarterback Ken Dorsey. Might want to start packing now, Romeo.

I think he was referring to the Browns last game of the season, which is on the 28th @ Pittsburgh.

The browns have been the clowns since we were a team that went to Baltimore. There will be no winners as long as we keep the same old group. Change, baby, change.

Hmm, I guess you forgot that the Bengals are 1-10-1 and Detroit is 0-12....nobody could be worse than the Bengals or Lions.

and the truth will set you free! crennel and weis are mediocre at best. they only got picked because their stats were inflated by their cheater boss in NE. The NFL knows how long that's been going on and have been silent. no way HOF for Belifib! Also, the NFL extorted $365 million from the Lerners to start over and all that money went to the rest of the ownership. Cleveland has been digging itself out of that hole ever since. time to excorsize the ghosts by holding a seance at the stadium and starting all over again for real this time!

Wow! Hot news flash from Chris Mortensen?!! Folks in Cleveland have known for 2 - 3 weeks that Romeo Crennel is GONE, done deal, fini!!! There's no speculation about it, no "miracle finish" that could save him. Chris Mortensen is a joke. And increasingly, so is ESPN.

The Brownies have to go to Nashville Sunday, the only miracle
at LP Field will be if Dorsey is able to walk at the end of the game.

Romeo has lost Juliet as Shakespear predicted. The sad news is that there is no miracle finish, short of a Superbowl win, that will save Crennel. It is obvious that the fans, the players and now management have spoken out against him. I hope his mother loves Romeo because no one else does!

The Browns are jinxed until they have a local owner that cares about the team.
