When it comes to AFC East feuds, most of the focus has been on the Jets and Patriots over the last few years. The Dolphins and Pats, however, have been sniping at each other for a while as well. Sunday, they actually turned their bad blood into fisticuffs and the Dolphins started playing like the football version of Slap Shot in the final minutes by picking up several deliberate unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. It doesn't figure to cool off after Jason Ferguson's comments to Sporting News Today (via PFT) following the game. Fergie seemed to think the Patriots were running up the score when BenJarvus Green-Ellis plunged in for a touchdown to make the score 48-28 with 40 seconds to play.
"You don't continue to try to rub it in. And you can say what you want, they rubbed it in. That's what rubbed guys the wrong way...I hope we see them again in the playoffs. We'll see what happens then."Sorry, Jason, but you're wrong here. The touchdown came on fourth down, New England wasn't throwing the ball and the Patriots have no obligation to give the Dolphins a chance to win the game. Slim chance though it may be, 13 or 16 (if they kicked a field goal) points is doable in 40 seconds. It's the Dolphins' job to stop the Patriots, not the Patriots' job to stop themselves.

Jason is a f------ loser who apparently missed the marathon of everyone blaming NE for the same thing last year during the .......UNDEFEATED regular season. This was a 4th down play, and it was going to be a touchdown or nothing. He, Jason, is the self-appointed genius, so why is it us who have to explain the "DUH" factor here?!

Bwahahahahaha.....all the Fish fans who were gloating when they beat us earlier with the wildcat offense are crying now! You'll all be watching us in the playoffs again just like the last 8 years, on your sofas...Dolphins Suck! Go Pats!

LOL, "Undefeated" and "Patriots" can not now, or ever, be used together in the same sentence. Only 1 team in the history of the NFL can, the 1972 UNDEFEATED MIAMI DOLPHINS. Without Brady, the Patriots don't sniff the Superbowl.

The Dolphins as a whole need to learn to shut their pieholes and play football. Their organization is quickly turning into Raiders East. First Joey Porter yaps about not getting respect (look in the mirror, buddy), then Channing Crowder eggs on the crowd after being ejected (he should be fined for that alone, if not for the fight also) and now this. Bill PArcells needs to tell this team to GROW UP.

You need a reality check. The Patriots are infamous for running up the score when victories are assured. Belichick is a no class bum who is not satisifed with a win when he can derive so much pleasure from rubbing it in. His "successes" and super bowl wins are tainted because he has been outed as a cheater.

I think it's Dolphins' job to stop the Patriots. The Patriots played better during the game, and deserved to win. So shut up and learn to take a loss! And as for the playoffs, good luck getting in Jason.

You guys are whack. The Patriots run scores up all the time, and when it happens to them they cry just as loudly. Miami will be the ones on top in a couple of years. Enjoy your time at the top while it lasts.

I was at the game. If the Dolphins want to blame anyone blame Joey Porter for back to back unsportsman like penelties that cost them nearly 30 yards. The Patriots were running the ball not throwing it. If you can't stop the run of a 3rd string back then whats the point of playing the game?

OK, let me see! And last year Miami had a combined record of what, let me guess, oh maybe 1 and 15, no they were better than that I think, maybe 2 and 14, damn, I still cant remember! Maybe because the Dolphins are irrelevant in the NFL! The Pats did nothing more than a parent would have done to a stepchild, make that a stepdaughter

Running up the score? What did the Dolphins do in the first game against NE? Payback is payback and the better team won easily. I would pray for another matchup between NE and Miami, but Miami isn't good enough to get it.

Kevin, do you spend alot of time on your knees? When point differential is one of the tie-breakers for playoff contention why would anyteam in a division as tight as the AFC East turn down a chance to run up the score??????

As much as I dislike the Patsies.....I have no problem with what they did. I wish more teams would do this. Why should they take a knee? The object is to play football and score...irregardless. I think teams should play till 0:00 time remains and not be able to take a knee.
