Browns Linked to Bill Cowher, Again

For most head coaches in trouble, the clear sign of problems is when the general manager or owner offers a vote of confidence. In Cleveland, Romeo Crennel's problems can always be measured by how many Bill Cowher rumors are floating around.

It's a bad week, so there's another Cowher rumor. Pro Football Talk is reporting that a source told PFT that the Browns have already approached Cowher about the job (sorry Romeo, your firing will come later) and will offer the former Steelers head coach $8 or $9 million for the job.

Hiring Cowher would likely also mean that general manager Phil "Go Root For Buffalo" Savage would either be dumped or demoted to head toilet washer, since Cowher wouldn't come to Cleveland without the power to build his own roster.

Of course, this isn't the first time Cowher, a former Browns player and assistant coach, has been linked to Cleveland. We saw rumors of this earlier this month, in September, and last September. In fact, as long as Cowher isn't head coaching somewhere else and the Browns are still without a Lombardi trophy, we'll hear the rumors. That doesn't mean that there isn't some truth this time (unlike the last several times), but it does mean it's impossible to know what to believe.

Cowher to the Chiefs. He has a history there as well. Why would he want to coach against Pittsburgh twice a year with the Browns. He would go from hero in Pittsburgh to villain.

As a Stiller fan if this happens Bill is the biggest heap of shit in Stillers history!! I won't ever recognize him as a Stiller ever. I've been a fan for 36 years and if he goes this route I will never forgive him. He makes enough money and of all the teams he could join this should be the absolute last option! Bill if you ever had an ounce of integrity DON'T DO IT!!! Cowher played three seasons (1980-82) in Cleveland and began his coaching career in 1985 at age 28 under Marty Schottenheimer with the Cleveland Browns. He was the Browns' special teams coach in 1985-86 so how would going to Cleveland mean he doesn't have integrity. It looks like Cleveland gave him a lot of opportunities.

Comparing Cleveland the city to Pittsburg the city, lets just say you, your city, your entire social structure has alot of "evolving" needed before you can downgrade Cleveland. I dont ever see Cowher on the sidelines for the Cleveland Browns. I understand Cleveland gave him a shot as a player and as an assistant but he is a Steeler through and through. He grew up here and played high school ball here. When he coached the Steelers he was a hometown hero, I dont see him turning his back on that and becoming a Cleveland Brown again. Bill will have ALOT of people knocking on his door when he is ready to come back to coaching. I heard it from Pat Kirwins mouth that cowher stated he isnt even close to being ready to coach again, hes very happy with his life right now. Ill crush the Strongsville post also, I live and work in strongsville real estate, no purchase has been made in this county

first off its piermanti bros. sandwich, with a iron. why would cower leave a 3 million dollar a year job that he only has to work 1 day a week. the only stress he has now is did his picks from the previous week pan out. to go to cleveland does not make sense, he could rejoin the steelers in some capacity. if he does go back into coaching it'll be a really big score on a team that has a shot, you know a contender. the browns are serial bottom dwellers, thats why they call themselves the dogs. seriously, paul brown named them after the color of shit for a reason, their fans are dog shit. so no cohwer ain't ever goin the the mistake by the lake!
