Yesterday I mentioned that "Adam" Pacman Jones was back in Dallas after a 30-day stint in an alcohol treatment program awaiting word from Dear Leader Goodell about his professional fate. Jones' attorney, Worrick Robinson, admitted that he had no sense if the commissioner's office would reinstate his client but 24 hours after making those comments, we have an answer (via DMN blog via PFT):
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday the suspended cornerback has been reinstated by league commissioner Roger Goodell, but will not play this Sunday or the following game on Thanksgiving. That would peg his return for Dec. 7 at Pittsburgh.Woo hoo, fair and balanced NFL justice system!
Looking at the schedule, Jones will end up missing six games, which makes the punishment something more than the standard four-game suspension a player might get for anything from violation of the substance-abuse policy to unapproved end zone celebrations, but obviously much less severe than the "see you next year!" edict Jones received prior to the 2007 season.
And while an indefinite suspension for a hotel bathroom cat fight with a team-appointed bodyguard might be a tad harsh, Jones' history of finding trouble coupled with the NFL Gestapo's insistence on arbitrarily disciplining its players makes it all less insane-seeming.
Whatever, welcome back, Mr. Pacman. The secondary missed you.

If I were in charge of the "Pacman" situation...and I felt the way Jerry Jones says he feels...I'd give him one more chance. That is however, that you really belive this is the end of the problems. I would tell "Pacman" that one more problem of anykind while he is a member of this great team....he is gone from the leauge forever without one more penny from the NFL. ONE PROBLEM and gone for good.

I am really tired of Pacman Jones all together. He has had such a bad history and has tarnished the reputation of NFL players. People who do not watch football and see Jones on the news from allegations of shootings and fighting, truly perceive a bad rap for other NFL players that may actually follow rules and choose to lead a good and productive life. There is no question that Pacman is a great football player and athlete, but his off the field antics should not be something the NFL should put up with and further should kick him out of the league. If they continue to place suspensions on these players and continually let them mess up and return, then these situations will never be resolved. Someone needs to be made an example of.

This is ridiculous! What an outrage. This a-hole does what he wants and the NFL lets him play. This is the problem with America...no accountability!
Roger Goodell is a sell out.

I wonder do you say make that comment regarding the N.F.L. being the "National Felons League" because of Vick and Jones being black. I wonder because, I dont hear a lot of conversation being said about MLB and the miserable history that its had since its inception. I understand that these two young men have made huge mistakes and (honestly) may make more, but is it really fair for everyone in the league to be considered criminals? I am pretty sure even you would say, no.
Lets remember that all professional sports have had players, who while great in their sport, were terrible human beings. And all of these players transcended color. I think we should all keep in mind that all of these players are spoiled as soon as our high school programs realize that they have a potential pro athlete, and start bending every rule in the handbook. I often think of many of the bad apples in professional sports and say that it sure would be nice to see them working a regular blue collar 6am-6pm shift. Then and only then will see a change in their behavior.
And as for Mr. Goodell, if he wants to be remembered for cleaning up the NFL, the way that should be done is through investing serious dollars on morals and value training in the secondary school system (high school). As well as put a cap on a unproven rookie's starting salary. I could go on, but again I just wonder, whats up with the National Felons League comment?

this is rediculous, roger goodell is a whore so jones pockets should handle him . Look how Patriots get away with cheating and no reprecushions except a light slap on the wrist. Wake up NFL and remember commishioner i8s a paid pencil pusher. I am sick of hearing how they want league fair and they allow grose cheating for years and simply sad bad boys. Why does New England get mentioned as one of the great teams? They are the greatest cheaters and nothing more.

I'm sick of these pampered pros...none of them ever worked at a real job and all are lucky to be playing a game for a living. I say for all these pros who get in trouble that the nfl should make them work at a minimum wage job for six months before they get reinstated. That would open their eyes to how lucky they are....let them sell hot dogs at the stadium while their team is playing....these jerks have destroyed the game and the biggest reason I don't watch pro football anymore.. If you want to watch real football players go to a high school game and watch real football players play their hearts out for the love of the game,,,.

I am deeply saddened by the NFL Commissioner and his staff. For the last two years they have sugar coated every incident that has happened with Adam Jones,Chris Henry and now Plaxico Burress. If you are going to issue a no tolerance policy, the least you could do is have the balls to apply it.These three individual’s are nothing but thugs, that
have a God given ability to play a professional sport. If it were me or any other common person, our asses would be in jail from the first incident that occurred. In 1998 these two people, Jeff Benedict & Don Yaeger wrote a book called The Pros & Cons( The criminals who play in the NFL). Under former commissioner Paul Tagliabue,in that year
do any of you recall an altercation that occurred after the Denver Bronco & Atlanta Facoln Super Bowl, involving Ray Lewis(Ravens) and a single individual that was later stabbed to death by two of Ray Lewis’s acquaintances. The NFL along with the Baltimore Ravens & Atlanta police department shoved it under the rug, and not a single person was prosecuted.Commissioner Goodell needs read the book and pull his head out of you no where, and start doing the right thing. The players that commit these crimes and the people
that continue to do nothing about it, I call them cement heads.
