I'm guessing NFL head of officiating Mike Pereira had a busy day at the office, what with how the Chargers-Steelers game ended, not to mention the legions of degenerate gamblers who got screwed out of their well-earned payday. And by "well-earned," I mean "lucky as hell."
In any case, Pereira is moving quickly to make sure the league avoids such mistakes in the future. No idea if that means making Scott Green redundant, but it's a start:
"It's safe to say it's already in the process of being reviewed," Pereira said today "If we let the replay guy say, 'Hey, wait a minute, they're talking about the wrong pass ..., then we can correct an egregious mistake like that. I think that's something the Rules Committee [i.e. Competition Committee] has to look at, and look at soon, how we administer the replay. ...I wonder if Rooney asked Pereira how Pittsburgh could be penalized 13 times while San Diego drew just two flags. This morning, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette wrote that "Rooney left his box after a Willie Parker touchdown run was nullified by a holding penalty, and spoke with the league observer in the pressbox." Given how the final 11 seconds played out, it didn't appear to help.
Pereira, who said he had an amiable discussion with Steelers chairman Dan Rooney this morning, added that he spoke with Green both Sunday night and this morning.
Pereira also said he talked to Green last night and this morning but didn't say if the officials have been or would be penalized. "It's the normal process of how we review the game. Certainly, it's a mistake that has been made. He and the crew will be held accountable for that. It's the normal routine we go through to hold them responsible for mistakes like this."
As the Post-Gazette's Chuck Finder points out, Ed Hochuli would receive a poor evaluation for his early-season gaffe that gifted the Broncos a win over the Chargers. So, basically, it sounds like Green can expect a verbal and written reprimand, and it'll go on his permanent record. Which could jeopardize his chances of getting into an Ivy League school.

If the "fix" wasnt in then why did they even review the call? The TD didnt affect the outcome, the only people it affected was vegas bookies and the people who lost 65 million to them. Makes me wonder how many more games have been "fixed" by a phantom holding call that is much less obvious to detect. point shaving is a serious crime and this needs to be investigated. The NFL is now the WWE. What a shame.

Absolutely right. I have never really believed that an NFL game could be fixed, but the combination of a phantom holding call and an ludicrously blown review of the final and irrelevant (other than to gamblers) play of a game, leads to inevitable speculation that the game was fixed. I truly hope that the NFL investigates the referee's involved.

Each week the refs do not try to keep the contest fair..it' s more about Vegas...That's pathetic!
Just look at them scramble to try and prove they are not for the "HOUSE rules".
Sad really...
I've seen to many questionable calls and lopsided scores from teams that have no business winning that game.
It's such a joke I wonder why I still watch sometimes. but I still love my team from my youth and hope they can prevail through the muck of the NFL Vegas machine!

Too little too late! It is easy to see that Vegas pulls ALL of the NFL strings. This will only make their errors a little less visible or blatant. Still right up there with Big Time Wrestling!

Why should we be concerned about people betting on the games. So what if they lost money. The record book is the same.
It is important that the rules are correctly used, that is the important thing here, not whether people lost bets.

Well the rule changes are just in time for gamblers!!! WHO CARES! THEY WON!!!!
Don't gamble! The refs have more to worry about than who wins their bets, try getting their heads out of their tucas' and calling holdings a little more evenly (thats one penalty that should always go 50/50)
