Eagles Players Didn't Know NFL Games Can End in a Tie

A quarterback like Donovan McNabb could play his entire career in the NFL and never be part of a tie game. That said, shouldn't a quarterback of an NFL team be aware of the possibility of a tie?

During his post game press conference, Donovan McNabb was asked what his thoughts on the Eagles tie today with the Cincinnati Bengals. Donovan answered by stating he didn't even know you could play to a tie in the NFL. He then wondered aloud what would happen in the event of a tie in the playoffs. Really? The quarterback of an NFL team, the coach on the field, didn't know you could play to a tie. REALLY?

The Eagles ineptitude in Cincinnati was frustrating enough but hearing your quarterback who threw three interceptions in the loss, er, tie tell us he didn't know a tie was possible simply pours salt on the wound. On the Eagles post game show on Comcast, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell questioned any quarterback's decision making ability in overtime when you don't know that a tie is a potential outcome. Would you go for that deep pass instead of dumping it short to Westbrook? Nobody knows.

After the game, Correll Buckhalter said that he and wide receiver Greg Lewis were discussing the possibility of a tie and had to ask a trainer to clarify what the actual rule says.

but seriously Donovan McNibbles, you didn't know it could end in a tie?

Why when you look in the standings it shows 0-0-0 or 8-1-0

That third column means a tie dude, lol McNibbles why would you say that in a press conference too. And the playoffs thing they go to Second Overtime DUH!!

The OT period ends in a tie unless it's a playoff game....then they repeat the procedure until someone scores. Amazing there hasn't been one in 6 years and probably no more than 5 or 6 since they started it in the late 70's

McNabb is finished in Philly,& his days of being seen as an elite
QB are gone.Frankly I never saw McNabb as one of the top 5
QB's in the league,& have never really figured out the love
affair the national media had with him.At his best he was above average but to say that he was a great QB is ridiculous.

I am generally a calm easygoing guy, but after watching this travesty, I have to say something ! Reid and McNabb must go ! It's true they had a few good years, but their time is over. Lurie must realize his loyalty belongs to the fans, not this gruesome duo. Joe Banner isn't helping the situation either. He may be just doing what the owner wants. If he's the one telling the boss to keep these inept idiots, then let him go also !

What does it take to get rid of Andy ' father of the year' Reid?? I read in Philly.com that Reid accepted full responsibility for the fact that his players didnt know the rules of the game. WTF Maybe Andy should start taking responsibilty for being a loser and resign...and take his moron quarterback with him.

This is also the same QB who accused Philly fans & media of being racist even though Grossman took way more heat in Chicago. Last I checked, Grossman is white. Doesn't matter what color you are. If you play in the NFL, taking heat comes with the territory. That's why you make millions. Not a very bright comment. Now the real truth is exposed not knowing regular season games can end in a tie. Doesn't mean you're a dumb person life in general. But when it's your profession, it makes you wonder?
