Yesterday MDS mentioned that Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio had banished muscle-flexin' Mike Peterson to the bench and stripped him of his captaincy for insubordination. Today, the Florida Times-Union's Michael Wright points out that Del Rio has named Daryl Smith the team's starting linebacker for the rest of the season, and Peterson will now serve as Justin Durant's backup.
Del Rio said there won't be any further discussions about Peterson regaining his job in the middle.Got that? Don't even think about asking Jack about Peterson getting his old job back because it ain't happening. And just to reassure those of you who think this has more to do with last week's falling out than it does with trying to fix a defense Gregg Williams has managed to render useless in two months on the job, well, you're wrong. Sorta:
"He needs to embrace his role," Del Rio said. "Daryl Smith is going to be our mike [linebacker], and it should be good for him."
"This move is more about giving Daryl Smith more opportunities in the middle than punishing Mike [Peterson]," Del Rio said. "He'll get some snaps at the will [linebacker]."Reading between the lines: this has EVERYTHING to do with punishing Mike Peterson and nothing to do with giving Daryl Smith more opportunities. Okay, got it.

Does anyone know anything about the Jaguars? When I read these posts, I can't help but think, no. Daryl Smith IS BETTER THAN MIKE PETERSON. That hasn't always been true, but this year, it has become painfully clear that Mike Pete has lost a step or two. Daryl Smith has been waiting in the wings to take over the MLB position for two years now. They didn't draft Clint Ingram in the third, then Justin Durant in the second rounds of the draft in consecutive years to have them compete with each other. Jack N' Shack have always been good at finding defensive talent in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds of the draft, and they realized that Mike Peterson is only getting older. Plus, Peterson was a stud WLB in Indy, while Daryl Smith was a stud MLB at Georgia Tech.

They should bench the whole team for the way they played against th titans. The poor defensless. offfenseless, coachless, Jaguars. Number 25 of the defense even escorted the opposing player into the end zone. He was a hold out , now they should let him out of his contract, or teach him how to tackle. Wayne Weaver should shit can the whole team.
