Viruses don't go away, they just jump from host to host, affecting that party with whatever it is they carry. Meet Jeremy Shockey, the human form who has recently found home in New Orleans, where he already is making everyone he's around sick on contact.According to PFT, Shockey is already hated by some of his teammates, which was apparent yesterday when Drew Brees and Shockey got in a little verbal lashing on the sidelines after Shockey couldn't close his hands fast enough around the pigskin.
As one source told us, Shockey already is "hated" by more than a few members of the organization.
The reasons relate to both on-field and off-field conduct. "Things in London, things in practice, things in games," the source said.
I have no clue why he'd already be getting the cold shoulder by some of his buddies. The Saints are only 4-5 and, in the absence of a lot of their offensive playmakers this season, with both Marques Colston and Reggie Bush missing time with injuries, it's not like they could really expect Shockey to step up and make plays. (/sarcasm)
Basically, Shockey appears to be a problem no matter where he goes, and, although he is a talented tight end, the guy hasn't made the Pro Bowl since 2006 and has already missed three games this season because of injury. On top of that, in his last two games Shockey has contributed all of three catches for a whopping 22 yards; not really the production you need with Bush on the sidelines.
Mike Florio suggests that the Saints could part ways with the troubled tight end at the end of the season because his salary is expected to jump.
Honestly, I couldn't see a scenario with a team wanting Shockey for that amount of moolah. Honestly, with the amount of legit tight ends in the league right now, there is no reason to be wasting your time on a guy who brings the entire team down. Our guess is that Shockey might not get a chance to extend his stay in New Orleans by a second season. His salary is due to spike from $1.925 million to $3.025 million next year.
Maybe they should have just left Shockey in London.

The Saints must be planning to break Shock's leg, then go 100% the rest of the year, in the steps of the Giants.
And my god, who didn't see this coming? I can't believe that they gave up that many picks for a guy who couldn't stay happy on a Super Bowl winning team.

Shockey is probably the most over-rated player the NFL has today. It was no coincedence that the Giants played there way to the Lombardi Trophey last year once this cancer went on IR. What is really sickening is the way CBS pimps this guy during their TV coverage of the games he is playing in. All you hear during the game is Shockey this and Shockey that. Or they keep showing close-ups of this yo-yo on the sidelines like he is one of the greatest TE's of all time. And in the end, you see a 2 catch for 11 yards performance by this pedestrian player. The guy is nothing. Saints fans, one of the reasons your team is 4-5 is because of this under performing coach killer.

The N.O. Saints are what they are, a losing team because of moves like trading for Shockey. This is not a team player and never will because he thinks he’s better than the team. I just can’t wait for this years 2009 draft. The Saints sent a 2nd & 5th round pick to the giants for this loser! Hahahahahah. Based on the Saints trading for J. Villma from the Jets and giving them their 2nd round pick if Mr. Villma plays more than 85 % of the defensive downs or re-signs with them would mean the Saints have to give the Giants their 1st round pick for Shockey! WOW! Nice move Saints!

Looks like the over-rated, loud-mouthed, butter-fingered, hypochondriac is up to his old tricks. Has he started throwing his hands up in the air in the qb's direction everytime the ball isn't thrown to him yet?
