The Washington Redskins have signed free agent cornerback DeAngelo Hall, Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting.
The signing comes two days after the Oakland Raiders placed Hall on waivers. When no team claimed Hall, he became an unrestricted free agent, and the Redskins moved quickly to lock him up. No financial terms of the deal have been released, but Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that Hall will receive the same prorated $1 million salary he would have received if he had stayed in Oakland, and that the contract contains a commitment that the Redskins won't use the franchise tag on Hall in 2009.
Although a lot of Redskins fans disliked the idea, it's the latest piece of evidence that Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is more than willing to open up his wallet if it allows him to get another big-name player into the fold.
Hall spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons, where he was chosen to two Pro Bowls. During the off-season he signed a seven-year, $70 million contract with the Raiders, but they cut ties with him after he had played just eight games -- and after the team had paid him $8 million.

How can the redskins always sign the high priced free agents and never seem to have a problem with the salary cap. They never cut any overpriced stars and just keep signing them.

I think he can contribute, and the Redskins atmosphere and fanbase will be good for him, just like the Patriots were good for Randy Moss.
I'm more anxious to see him as a return specialist than a cornerback, though. Randle El isn't really cutting it anymore.

It's not a horrible signing. They've only got him for one year, and they only paid $1 million for him. Really not a big deal. If he behaves, they sign him next year. If not, no big deal.
Although it will get trumped up as a huge deal, it's really not. Pretty safe gamble, imo.

Because Snyder signs them to a cheap salary and then gives em a huge guaranteed bonus. It's pretty lame but it's his money I guess. Kind of defeats a salary cap though.

I don't know about this. The Redskins have been playing good and have not had any issues. It may have a Pacman effect as he did in Dallas. I hope it does. Go Cowboys.

I think its a good move considering that the Redskins have Shawn Springs out right now and when he comes back that will make them even better on the corners.

damn that sucks... i thought the 'aints were gonna pick him up. that would guarantee matt ryan at least 4 more td passes this year. me-angelo hall is a waste. all he does is whine and complain. he is one of the most over-rated players in the league. every time he gets burned he complains to the refs about non-existant offensive interference. look at mike jenkins td last week- he claimed m.j. interfered. and we all remember the incident w/ steve smith last year where in 1 drive me-hall accounted for like 60-something penalty yards in 1 drive. he's nothing more than a cancer. anyone else notice this: since atl got rid of all of the Va Tech players we're actually looking like we'll be a good team in the next few years. no more vick, no more d-hall, no more j. williams... i know we have new coaches, players, philosophies and everything, but in order to bring in the good you gotta get rid of the bad. oakland, as bad as they are, made the best choice of all season in eating the 8 mil and getting his bad attitude outta town. washington, it's downhill from here.

Im sorry but i can't let this slide. Did you forget that these same V Tech players minus the last one helped your team go to the playoffs. Hell Vick single handly picked your team up for the dirty bird ages. And D. Hall was still the best player on your team of under producers. He might be over rated but i strongly doubt that it was your V Tech players that had your team losing. May I remind you that these were Pro Bowl player and playing pretty high. They made names for themselves no one gave them a thing coming out of Tech. Also the move is great low risk high reward. No cap the Raiders took on all the money.

your idiots if you think this was a bad move...the skins signed him to a ONE year deal and with the latest injuries to the secondary its a great pickup. He played on the raiders....everyone there is poison but now that hes on a contending team hes going to produce so he can get that $$$$$$$$ next year. Logic= Redskins need DB, best DB in free agency-Deangelo Hall. NO BRAINER retards

Well Said! It's simply a no brainer. What's one year/1 mill. when our DB's are a little banged up? Who is good in Oakland? Who ever produces in Oakland? Definitely not Moss, who is arguably one of the best WR's of all time. What did Moss do when he went to a great environment? When Al Davis is gone, then the Raiders might have a glimmer of hope. Hall is a two time pro bowler, but HE must definitely suck, not the Raiders...oh no, it couldn't be them.
