The buzzword in Washington right now is "change". With voters demanding change with their voices on Tuesday, I think we need another voice to speak out about another change.Daniel Snyder and the Washington Redskins need to stop trying to bring in other team's problems and outcasts. Boy, would that be a change.
A buddy of mine asked me what I though about the Skins going after DeAngelo Hall, who the Raiders recently dumped. I told him that I wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. His risks far outweigh his rewards. Yeah, the Redskins are banged up in the secondary but not bad enough that they need to consider bringing in Hall.
I'm not the only Redskins fan that feels that way. Now with rumors that the team is pursuing Hall, I'm hoping someone decides it is a bad idea as well.
When FanHouse first started, I did the Fantasy Football stuff here. One of the predictions I used every week was to name whomever was going up against Hall (then with the Falcons) as a stud. Usually it worked out. Hank Baskett went nuts with 177 yards receiving. Hines Ward tacked on 171 yards of his own. Joey Galloway had 161 yards. Devery Henderson had 158. Roy Williams had 138 yards. Santana Moss poured on 123 yards.
I want the Redskins to change! This season alone, the team has taken in a disgruntled Jason Taylor and a unemployed Shaun Alexander. They will forever be thrown on the pile with Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders, Jeremiah Trotter, Jeff George and Jesse Armstead.
Please just leave this alone, Mr. Snyder. This team is in the thick of the playoff race and don't need a malcontent screwing it up.
UPDATE: Of course, just hours after I posted this, the Redskins did sign Hall. "Thrilled" wouldn't be the word I'd use to describe my feeling right about now. The damage has already been done, so I'm hoping that Hall will embrace this opportunity to play for a winning team and stay in his shoes.

Gosh, now I hate to mention it - but I HAD been thinking that KGB might be a good pick-up for a little D-Line insurance.

It's a prorated one-year deal for a guy who is going to a veteran defense with a clear-cut leader. He's got two choices: be on his best behavior and hope that his performance nets him another large contract or sulk and blow his chance at big money. This costs the Redskins basically nothing, he's not going to disrupt a close-knit unit. The secondary is hurting and the team can't be certain how many games it can get out of Springs. I know everyone wants to tie this to the hyperbolic narrative of "Snyder always gets the big names" but this is a sensible, practical move.

wow. Daniel trying to buy a play-off game, let Jim Zorn do his thing and seat back and let him run the team.... Another( Dieon Sander's), Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, and all the player's that are not right for their teams... let Jim run the team and you Daniel, stay in your office and count your money....

Pete Kendall, Shawn Springs, London Fletcher, Santana Moss, Clinton Portis, Marcus Washington, Randle El, Andre Carter, Fred Smoot...etc. etc. etc.
All acquired "Big Names" that have proven to be core Redskins over the past few years. STILL, to make a moot point, people bring up the Bruce Smiths, Deion Sanders, Jeremiah Trotters, Jeff Georges and Jesse Armsteads that happened years ago as reason to not pick up free agents.

I think this was a great move by the Redskins. All our Corners are banged up. Hall is a 2-time pro-bowler and is a good addition to our good (when healthy) secondary.

Anybody that thinks this is a "Bull Sh*t" move is a complete idiot. I guess all of the NFL players that voted this cat as an "All Pro" two out of four years knew nothing about football.
Altalnta was an joke of a team being run by some QB named "Ron Mexico" and Oakland just happens to be,
well Oakland.
Hall played opposite possibly the best damn corner in football and so the other teams loaded up on him. Hell, when the quarterback has enough time to count the tens of people in the stands in Oakland, stuff will happen.
This guy was cheap and the slate is now clean. We need a stud to fill in for Shaun Springs every other game and after this season when Springs is gone. The thing even more apparent the Hall now is that he has a chance to play (maybe his last) with a young defensive backfield, for a great organization, and near his home town for a long time.
Give this guy a break. Maybe it wasn't all him. Snyder, Vinnie, and Zorn seem to be doing OK, so chill.
