Although it's not yet up on the dot com, ESPN Primetime peeps Trey Wingo and Trent Dilfer are reporting that it's BRADY QUINN TIME!? in Cleveland. Yep, that's right, after head coach Romeo Crennel, during his weekly Monday presser, said that Derek Anderson was his starter "as of right now," something changed.
No idea what -- it's not like Anderson was noticeably worse against the Ravens than he had been for most of the 2008 season -- but now the World's Sexiest Backup has been promoted.
According to the fine folks at Rotoworld.com who pay attention to such stuff, the full-time job is still up for grabs, though there's a good chance Mr. Anderson will be hawking his wares in another NFL city come 2009, and the Browns will probably look to trade him.
Which means that those Matt Cassel-to-Detroit odds just got a lot longer.
You have to wonder if the Browns had long planned on giving Quinn his chance this week; the Broncos' defense is beyond embarrassing (Jim Colletto supports this message), and there isn't an easier game on the schedule to introduce a new quarterback.
It probably won't mean much for the fate of the 2008 squad -- they're 3-4 and face a pretty daunting second-half slate -- but maybe Don Banks was right: it'll give the organization a glimpse at what they'll have to work with heading into next season.

no he didn't, but he did give up 7 and fail to give the defense a small break from the field. DA has proven he can't pick his team up from adversity time and time again. It's time to give the kid a chance

Browns fans be careful what you wish for.......It looks like the whole Defense needs to benched except for S.Rodgers. They made J. Flacco look like a superstar, hell they make everyone look like a superstar, D.A. was already a backup that was cut from the Ravens and you all expect him to be a stud?
Browns Fans aren't that smart.

Brady Quinn deserves a shot. Now lets get serious. B.Edwards has been a disappointment (can you believe his comment last week-"we underestimated the Redskins" doesn't he realize he is playing for the Browns). Anderson's performance has been lacking but there have been many dropped passes (see B. Edwards) that have contributed to his dismal rating. If I'm the GM, I'd trade Anderson, Edwards and Winslow for some high draft picks and get some defensive picks. Heiden is not as talented as Winslow but is a better blocker, possession receiver and much better team player. And what about Stallworth? And when does Juerivicous come of the injured list? Come on management, the fans in Cleveland deserve better

Quinn sucks, he has no arm strength, all he throws are little dink and dunks to the running backs. I was at every training camp practice this summer and he must have thrown at least 15 picks. D.A. is not the problem, i agree he isnt playing like he did last year, but its not his fault we lost to the ravens. Romeo saying d.a. is the starter then changing his mind is just another reminder why he shouldnt be a head coach. Mark my words things will only get worse from here with Quinn as the starter, the team is just going to quit and the few guys who were playing hard, arent going to want to play for a coach who is going to flip flop. This season is over, trade quinn and winslow and get both of the cry babies out of cleveland i am sick of hearing about and seeing both of them. The only 3 players on the browns this year that are worth a crap are, 1. Rodgers, 2. Heiden 3. Cribbs.

Bench D.A.??? All summer I heard how after one year he was the future of quarterbacks in the AFC, and how the Browns would challenge for a SuperBowl. The have no coach, no pride, no defense and a strong tradition of being a loser. D.A. has no value on the market, Winslow ruined his career playing with a bike, and Edwards has manos de piedra in the wrong sport. Give thanks for Cincy, without them you would be the bottom of the AFC for years to come.

Yes, Anderson is not the QB we expected him to be this season. However, watching games last year and seeing the circus catches made by receivers may have been a giveaway to his inaccuracy....Moreover, the Browns have good (not great) players that are being utilized wrongly. Lewis up the middle, Lewis up the middle over and over against Baltimores' defense was inexcusable. Lewis is great, Baltimores run defense is better than great....Neither Montana nor Marino could lead this poorly coached team to the locker room..much less the playoffs....

I think the Browns have finally realized that they've hit a ceiling with DA. They already know what they're going to get if they keep sending the same personnel onto the field. They get 3-5. It's time to give Quinn a fair shot. He may not be the second coming, but at least it will give he Browns a new angle.

As a high school backs coach I hate hearing people complain about running up the middle. Running the inside zone is just as essential as running off tackle in an offense. Running inside brings the inside backers and safety up to the line wich in turn opens the middle of the field for the passing game off play action. Running inside is for the most time a faster hitting play wich you need against a defense with the speed that the Ravens have. Outside running gives them the ability to correct mistakes they made off the read with thier speed. Fact is Lewis and the line played a fine game against that team. As did DA. Any team that wants to be over .500 can't have their star reciever drop the home run ball when that puts the nail in the coffin. If he makes that catch(wich he should have) DA throws for around 300, another td, and one less int on the day. I can't recall the last person to do that to the Ravens d.

I think that nobody can put the blame of the Cleveland Browns on the arm or decision making of Derek Anderson, However, this move was inevitable. Anyone can see that D.A. has lost the respect of his team. It is time to see if Brady Quinn will ever be a good starting QB in the NFL.
