If I know Bengals fans, they are hyped that their team is 1-8. Okay that doesn't sound like much but when that "1" came today, forgive Cincinnati for celebrating. They should celebrate as the pressure of a winless season finally goes away.Chad Johnson is. He broke out of a season long funk with two TD grabs and a kiss on the cheek for both head coach Marvin Lewis and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Cincinnati got their first win with a gutsy 21-19 victory over Jacksonville.
Here's a screwed up stat for you: the Bengals are 8-1 when they wear the orange jerseys they sported today.
It wasn't their duds that won the game. Cincinnati was aggressive on both sides of the ball and finally played somewhat physical. They even had a guy (Andrew Whitworth) ejected from the game for exchanging punches with the Jags' John Henderson (Henderson was given the boot, too).
Still, Jacksonville nearly stole this one away.
Leading 21-6, the Bengals Glen Holt fumbled away a kickoff. The fumble was returned for a Jacksonville touchdown and carved the lead down to one possession. The Bengals offense, which did absolutely nothing in the final quarter-and-a-half, went three and out and punted the ball back to the Jags.
The 11-play, 73 yard Jacksonville drive ended with a Maurice Jones-Drew touchdown run. Down two, the Jags attempt at a conversion was foiled with Jonathan Joseph got his hand on a pass intended for Jerry Porter.
For the Jags, this is a huge blow. They lost at home to a below average Cleveland Browns team last week and then become the Bengals first victim this week. The offensive line is completely ruined, they cannot run the ball which forced David Garrard to uncharacteristically launch 38 passes today.
With the Titans win today, Jacksonville is now five games back in the AFC South. With that out of the question, the Jaguars are shooting for a wildcard spot. Currently they trail in that race by two games.
The Bengals season is all but over. Aside from playing out the string after next week's bye, there is no reason to be concerned by them. Still, getting that first win is sweet.

The poor defenseless Jaguars keep loosing because of a pathetic secondary. The offense felt so sorry for the defense that it joined in mediocrity in performance. Poor Jack is going to get mad and hopefully resign the title as coach.
