The touchdown celebration -- a modern day form of athletically charged art -- is always exciting but rarely carries a significant social message. That's okay, because, well, we don't like our sports stars to be that opinionated. But occasionally, there's a message that gets delivered. Roddy White whipping out "Free Mick Vick" is one example. And another alleged and hypothetical example would be the PFT rumor that Chad Johnson planned on pulling out Barack Obama banners this past Sunday against Houston.
We're told that Bengals receiver Chad Johnson a/k/a Chad Javon Ochocinco had a special touchdown celebration planned for Sunday's game at Houston, if he had actually managed to, you know, score a touchdown.Of course, as Florio noted, there's one problem with Ocho Cinco's plan: he didn't score. So, my friends, that plan didn't work out so well.
Per a league source, Johnson had a Barack Obama banner stashed in each end zone, which he planned to retrieve and unfurl if he had scored.
One would have to imagine though, that there's a reasonable chance COC will attempt this again; in case you hadn't noticed, he's incredibly attention starved at this point in the season.
And even if he's just doing it because he really wants to show his support for Barack, well, there are puh-lenty of other ways that wouldn't be classified as "undignified" and "selfish" of doing so. But hey, if Chad can somehow manage to find the end zone -- or, crazy idea, crack 100 yards in a game this season -- I say let him be his old crazy self and do whatever. He's got plenty of money to pay the fine since he abandoned that whole Ocho Cinco jersey idea.

And on the other side of the field you have another Johnson finishing up the best month any WR in the history of the NFL and no one even mentions it....

Wow Bettina! Obama is only a Black man, not the devil. If that even matters to you.

Well it didn't take long for the crybabies to come on here and start their "you won't vote for Obama because he's black" whining. Joseph, just because you chose your candidate based upon skin color doesn't mean everybody else did. Believe it or not but many people actually look at issues when deciding who to vote for, maybe you should try it sometime.

Gee, wow, that Chad Ocho Stinco endorsement...I'd rate it right up there with Christopher Buckley's and Colin Powell's.

Maybe it is an omen about Obama's potential to win that he did not score any touchdowns. Hopefully this omen continues until election day.

Boy, is that surprising, a white man commentator being rac*st. Once and for all - we support Obama for what he stands for - including most Black people, who do not usually inherit trust funds built on slavery and/or war profits. I'm white and a woman.
