For the four people who are even aware of the 1972 Dolphins, here's the latest from the last team to go undefeated for an entire season: the only remaining unbeaten team in 2008, the Tennessee Titans = YAWN.
I think it's fair to say that nobody figures the Titans to be 18-0 in three month's time, but they're still a very good football team, arguably the best in the NFL. Well, the '72 Dolphins are not impressed. Not even a little bit:
"I don't think they're that good," former Dolphins running back Jim Kiick said after watching the Titans-Colts game. "In all honesty, I'm not really concerned. They're seven games in and have a long way to go. I can't knock them because they have won every game, but I can't imagine them doing it. They're no Patriots."And then there's this, from former Dolphins defensive end Manny Fernandez: "There's no need to pay attention ... I can't even tell you what the name of their quarterback is." Great point, Manny ... wait, who are you again?
Perhaps most surprising is that Mercury Morris, one of the 2007 Patriots' biggest critics, not only has nice things to say about the Titans, he's actually pulling for them.
Ironically, the most boisterous of the 1972 Dolphins - running back Eugene "Mercury" Morris - has publicly lobbied for Tennessee to keep winning. It's easy to understand why. For many '72ers, New England's success led to newfound acclaim and commercial endorsements, including a Reebok ad that aired during the Super Bowl.Hmm. I never got the impression Morris was a money-grubbing attention seeker. Weird.
Oh, and in case you missed it the first 10 million times, just a friendly reminder from former Dolphins coach Don Shula: "All you have to do is think about all the years before 1972 and how many years there have been since then. Nobody has done it except one team. That's us."
Then there's the opposing viewpoint, as put forth by an anonymous FanHouse employee Matt Snyder: "Fortunately no one's impressed with the '72 Dolphins anymore. Being a winner in 1972 doesn't prevent you from being a complete and utter loser in 2008. Plus, the '85 Bears >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> them anyway."

I am sick of the '72 Dolphins snivelling about how good they WERE in the day. Yeah, whatever! The fact that NONE of these mean-spirited has-beens wants to face is that if this team was playing in today's NFL, they couldn't compete! They would be the one team Detroit and Cinncinati would want on their schedule for 16 weeks!!! The probably couldn't compete with Division I, NCAA top 25 teams! These pussies should shut up and fade away gracefully. Relevant? Yeah, right!

Wow, the '72 Dolphins don't think that the Titans are very good. Big deal. I've got champagne chilling for the day that the last of these old farts becomes too senile to do another interview.
Where does this irrelevant group of negative nancies rank among the NFL's all-time great teams? Not that high. When you think of the great teams, you think '85 Bears, 80s 49ers, 90s Cowboys, 70s Steelers, The Patriots this decade, the 2000 Ravens. I would even put the Vikings teams of the 70s and Bills teams of the 90s that each lost 4 Super Bowls ahead of this group.

The 72 dolphins ain't sh-t who did they play ? how many teams they play that year had winning records ? The 85 Bears finished 18-1 played some of the best teams that year The 2007 Patriots played every elite team in there 18-1 season I wish the Patriots did win the siperbowl last year this way we would not have to listen to the crap about the 72 Dolpins so tired of it and top it off they barely won some of the games from teams that had loosing records and Mercury Morris the good ole drug dealer should just shut his mouth and be greatful he is not in jail still MR COKE DEALER
