Perhaps Brett Favre should start trying to learn the Jets offense instead of helping other teams bone up on the Packers. Don't be fooled by sycophantic announcers who say Favre pulled out another last-second victory with a gutsy touchdown pass to Laveranues Coles. He was outplayed by Tyler Thigpen, threw an interception that should have been a game-breaker in the fourth quarter, and looked less like a Hall-of-Famer than a should-be CFLer.
Not that he should be singled out. This was an abysmal performance by the Jets and it's only the weakness of the Chiefs that allowed them to hang around long enough to steal a win. If Derrick Johnson doesn't drop an interception and probable touchdown in the third quarter, the Jets are finished. If the Chiefs offense is able to pick up one first down in the fourth quarter, the Jets are finished.
The latter was more surprising because the Jets spent most of the afternoon making Thigpen look like Joe Montana. Despite having only one offensive weapon in Dwayne Bowe and facing a Jets rush that came up with four sacks, Thigpen routinely made plays and didn't turn the ball over. It was the finest quarterbacking performance of the year for Kansas City and Thigpen should have the job for the next few weeks, if not the rest of the season.
He couldn't quite get it done on a final drive, however, and the Jets escaped with a win they didn't deserve. The team may be 4-3, but they haven't played 60 minutes of good football on any Sunday, they look bumfuzzled on offense more often than not, and Favre is looking much more like the mistake-prone version than the steely leader. That shouldn't be the case eight weeks into the regular season, but the Jets look no closer to putting it all together today than they did in Week 1.

Favre looked very old today. At least his old body won't have to play when it's really cold in January.

did you not hear when favre said that those reports were false? i feel like someone who has shown so much integrity over their career should be given the benefit of the doubt. does brett favre seem like the kind of two-faced person who would sell out the packers? i don't think so, leave the man alone. don't start jumping on the "hate on brett favre" bandwagon just because it makes your blog somewhat more interesting.

Brett Favre is a great football player. He will continue to play good football because he really likes to play hard and win! The Jets have done better with him and this just goes to show you that a good player can go to a so so team and make an immediate impact (positive that is) to the team. He is a natural born leader through his love of the game. The press needs to quit making him out to be such a bad guy! They do it for attention only! He's good for them but they're but they are using him wrong (because most media are pretty much stupid). Media love to run people down because they can! Unfortuantely - too many people believe what the media says. Brett may have made some bad moves with his playing and retiring but that is not a reason to go after him! People in the media should aspire to be even remotely as genuine as Brett is and they would be better people for it. Go Brett - take the Jets to the playoffs. F___ the media! A fan!!!

Let's face it, Mangini is not such a Mangenius. He refuses to adjust his defnse as the secondary has time and time again come up short. Sure Brett needs to be less of a sandlot guy but I get the feeling his instincts are running the offense. Mangini has to put his imprint on both offense and especially the defensive schemes here. 8 and 8 at best. Good luck in Buffalo. Good for Chad P on Sundays surprising win. Always liked that guy.

Why cant we just be happy for the guy. Whats the big deal with him changing his mind and wanting to come back and play football. He was a great quarterback when he was with the packers and now he is still just as good just a little older. If he did tell some of the pakers plays to other teams who cares...maybe they should of treated him a little different before they threw him away. Now im not a greanbay fan or a jets fan but i would still like to see the guy do good, and i would love to see the pakers fall on their A$$. He is going to be a Hall of Fame quarterback and they could of treated him like it.
