Hey, look at that: the Favre's have joined the blogging revolution! In the most recent post, Deanna, Brett's wife, writes that her husband isn't a vindictive jerk, which should come as news to Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy, and the sports media (obvious exclusion: Peter King, BFF Esq.)
Via the Family of Favre:
"... [M]ost hurtful are those media reports who would like you to believe that Brett is eaten up with bitterness over his split with the Packers. Still feeling some grief, sure... but not bitterness. Yes, in the beginning, Brett was angry and hurt with the way things ended, but how could he not be? Brett gave most of his career (and his adult life) to the Packers. ...After re-unretiring for the third time this summer, the Packers opted to go with Aaron Rodgers as its quarterback of the future. They eventually traded Favre to the Jets, and last week, word leaked that Favre had been sharing Green Bay game-planning secrets with Detroit, a division rival.
Brett does not, in any way, hold a vendetta against his former team ... But that has not stopped some from scrutinizing his every move and blaming him for so many things that simply are not true. ... Because of this, lately, my heart has been so heavy. It is very hard to watch the daily toll this has taken on Brett."
Favre sort of refuted the allegations during Wednesday's press conference, but a lot of people weren't convinced, including ESPN's Sal Paolantonio.
Whatever, I can certainly understand why Favre might be upset with how things ended in Green Bay, and I wouldn't completely blame him for his passive-aggressive approach for getting back at his former club (allegedly). That said, dude, let it go. In three months, you've tarnished a legacy that took 18 years to build.
Handy work, no doubt, but you might want to have focused more on beating the Chiefs on Sunday.

I do hold a grudge against the Packers who since I was a kid was my favorite team. Being from New Orleans (a true blue fan not a bag over my head fan) still pulled for the Packers every game they played. Then when Brett arrived in Greenbay it just made me love them even more. I feel they should have allowed him to return in his role as their number 1 quarterback. He still has what it takes and I am sure they are all going to live to regret their decision by not allowing him to return. I have never seen any player in any sport to put literally his heart and soul in the game. I cried with him and I watched him do great things.
Brett from a Saints fan and an X Packers fan we love you and hope u do great things in New York.

It doesn't matter who is playing. The Packers were around prior to Brett arriving, while he was there and will be there in Green Bay long after he is gone. Yes...Favre has attained legendary status as a player and quarterback. However, the Green Bay Packers attained legendary status as a team long before he ever arrived.....They don't call it Title Town for nothing....Brett contributed to that title along with MANY others....Many others will contribute in the future. The Packers survived the 70's and 80's which were long dry seasons...They will survive whatever may come...bad or good.

I completely agree. I have never seen someone love the game so much and bring the fun to the fans. I love watching Bret on Sundays...or Mondays or any other time I get a chance. I have been a Green Bay fan since Bret stepped onto the field. He gave them his everything and they didn't give it back. My heart went with Bret to the Jets. I wish him the best in his career and with his family. I am shocked at how quickly the media will turn if it makes a better story.

It is really sad that the media has the ability to take things as they do and twist it to their advantage. I would think that by now through the years that we all know what kind of man Brett is. He is a role model to all people. The people that should be ashamed is the reporter and Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy. The fact is Mr. Thompson has taken all of the players that were in Green Bay before he came and has managed to get rid of them. He knows that when if comes time for Brett to be in the Hall of Fame, they will not be crediting him or Mike McCarthy. They are to blame for all of this. We all know that Brett is not that type of person and never has been. Deanna and Brett know that truth and that is all that matters. Good Luck to Brett and the Jets. By the way, I'm a season ticket holder of the Green Bay Packers.

I hear you Gerry and respect your passion. I'm not a Packers fan but have always loved Brett! I have to side with the Packers though on this. If for example, Joe Paterno (also a legend) retired and unretired 4, 5, or 6 times over a few year period, Penn State would be forced to show him the door. Football is a business. No non management employee can rule a comapny, ever. They had to finally say enough is enough and do what was right. Brett ran them around for 3 or 4 years aleady, retiring. Not retiring. Over and over and over. I lost alot of respect for Brett....make a decision and live with it like everyone else has to. Thats life.

I am disappointed with how Green Bay handled the Brett situation - after what he did for the Packers, Green Bay and the whole state of WI, (visits to Childrens Hospital, lots of $$ to programs for disabled athletes, etc) this is shameful! He deserves so much more respect than he was given. I wish him and his family the best. I am happy to read so many positive responses - the Favres have my support and I will forever be a fan of #4. Go Deanna!!

if you were such a real packers fan (i.e. pre-Brett era), you wouldn't ditch the team after brett's dismissal, regardless of your feelings on the matter.

I work in Green Bay, live 20 miles away, and have been a Packer fan since I was in grade school and watched the Bart Starr team. I have never been ashamed of the Packer organization until the unbelievable way they handled the Brett Favre situation. Brett Favre brings a joy to the game that I have never seen before. He and his family brought nothing but down home kindness, community involvement, and gave us limitless enthusiasm and pride. Brett's success in leading the Packers is second only to the off-field leadership he showed.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer within 30 days of Deanna's and am doing well also. Good health to her and know that, outside of a small group of mindless, cruel people, with very short memories, the state, country, and even the world hold all of you in the highest esteem. Good luck with the Jets. Their gain is , indeed, our loss.
P.S. I have the Brett Favre Jets jersey. I am still a Packers fan, but will always be a Brett Favre fan.

Bob, from Arizona, says
I have been a packer fan every sence 1955' and I have never say a head coach that was so happy to have the power that Mike McCarthy has. Because he could tell a great player like Brett to set on the bench and play behind Rogers this year. All because Brett threw that last interception last year to end the season for the packers. Mike had his feelings hurt so Brett had to pay for it. I have followed the packers and I'm not going to leave them because Mike will be replaced and just maybe another great Quarter Back may come along soon. I an still going to fallow Brett through the rest of his playing because I feel that he is the greatest QuarterBack That has ever played the game of football. So Parkers keep up the good work and kiss goodbye to Mike.

I'm not sure if you live in Green Bay or not-I do and I think you're a little misguided. Mike has absolutely nothing to do with it. Yes, we may not have him around much longer but only because he is a "yes" man and does whatever the higher powers to be tell him to do. The person we will be "kissing goodbye" hopefully at the end of this season is Ted Thompson. He is the reason Brett was not allowed to come back. Him and Brett had a very tumultuous relationship since day 1 and made no attempts to hide it. Ted T is a vindictive person and has not an ounce of common sense or PR

You packer fans make me puke! Brett turned into(wait a min, doesn't football "bring out character?") a lying, self serving, power hunger, wishy-washy, spoiled man brat, and only Mike McCarthy had the cojones to step up and say, NO, you made your bed, now sleep in it, and quit f**king us in the a** because you want your ball again to play with. The hype about Brett is so phony..Aaron will be a very good QB. Give him time. Favre is only one guy on the FB team. It takes 53+ to win games. Used to buy into the Koolaid about BF. Now i have NO respect for the self serving punk.

I am not sure how long you have been a football fan but you don't know what you are talking about! Brett Farve is the epitome of what a football legend means. That man has played from his heart for his entire career and you have nothing better to do with your time than break someone else down. so what he cried on t.v. so what he changed his mind about retiring, he is human. brett has a love for this game that all the other so called "Great" players could start to appreciate instead of scarfing at. Brett Farve should continue to play as long as "HE" feels he has something to offer and not be forced to leave by small minded a**holes who would rather knock a person down than feel inspired by the determination and perservance. I say keep playing Brett and show them all how aww inspiringing you really are!!!!

I've been a Packer fan since Vince Lombardi was coach and Farve since he was traded to Green Bay from the Atlanta Falcons. Sure Farve has a big ego, what successful leader doesn't. During my military career all of the good fighter pilots and commanders I knew ALL had big egos, they had to and it made them the good leaders they were.
But at the end of the day this is what I have to say. Thank God that Farve is still healthy enough to play. I pray that no other tragedies fall upon the Farve family, and thanks also that I got to watch Farve "be Farve" all of those years as a Packer. He will always be the greatest Packer to me and is still my favorite quarterback of all time. But now he works for the Jets. Cool, I get to watch him play again, he's still doing the things that make him what he is. And tell me this, How is Farve supposed to turn off his ego? That's what defines him from all the rest. So he changed his mind! So what! If I had it to do all over again I wouldn't have stayed in the military for so long. I'm sure my body would be in much better shape and I wouldn't be in a wheelchair right now. But I never really got the chance to change my mind, the middle east is still a mess and If I had the chance to go back into the military I probably would even in a different branch of service than I was in. Because that's what I do and have done since I was 17. Farve has been a quarterback since he was in grade school.
Can you imagine what this world would be like if we all had fathers like Brett Farve had?
As I said, I'm a Packer fan and Aaron Rogers is now the quarterback of my team. Fine, and he's doing a great job and could even take my team to the Superbowl. That would be great!
He'll never be as great as Farve, no one will. But my team is still one of the greatest teams in the NFL because of the whole organization, and the town of Green Bay WI, (no I don't live there) and the memories of Vince Lombardi.
Farve also knows what he's doing, he's playing football - PLAYING! Every watch him smile after he's thrown an interception? That's Farve! Love him or hate him, he's still Farve, the Packers are still the Packers Spending time and effort on being angry at either one is at best a waste of both. Just enjoy the game - after all, it's just a game and they are all just playing!
One of my wishes in life is still to meet Brett Farve and I don't care what team he's playing for.
