I haven't talked to Sal Paolantonio's hair about this, but based on several comments from the NFL Matchup host, I can only assume that he's not a big Brett Favre supporter. In March, ESPN excerpted part of Paolantonio's book and slapped it with this title: "Overhyped: Favre Didn't Deliver in Second Half of Career." Shockingly, Green Bay fans weren't impressed. To his credit, Paolantonio responded to his critics a week later, writing this in a letter to the editor of the Green Bay Press-Gazette:
"Thank you for Mike Vandermause's smackdown of my espn.com column on Brett Favre. But I take issue with one major point: I was not trying to criticize Brett Favre, only offer some healthy perspective, provide an alternative take. Favre, as I pointed out, is a bonafide first ballot Hall of Famer. But I just wanted to hit the pause button on the over-the-top deification of No. 4. In my view, he is not even the greatest Packers quarterback of all time. That would be Bart Starr."Now that we're all caught up, Favre has been in the news recently for spilling the Packers' game-planning beans to his huntin' buddy Matt Millen back when Millen still had a job.
Although ESPN initially decided to not report the story because
Via PFT, Paolantonio believes Jay Glazer's report that Favre is a vindictive jerk (my words, not Jay's), even though Favre denies the allegations.
"Do I think what he did was wrong? Yes," Paolantonio said Favre, who reportedly flatly denied Glazer's report on Sunday night but seemed to stake out a middle ground during a Wednesday press conference.Shorter Sal: Dear Brett, you're a liar. And you suck. That is all. Beat it.
"Favre has to be smarter than that, and he was never terribly smart," Paolantonio said. "He feels like he can just lie. . . . You can't lie, because (a) you're Brett Favre and (b) we're gonna catch you on it. So you're lying. That's the biggest problem I have with this whole thing. Just own up to it. . . .
"The whole thing is just implausible that he would not just come out and tell the truth. Just tell the truth. . . . He gave the story legs."
But what of the fact that the Lions still were blown out?
"So you weren't very much help, and you aren't very much help to the Jets," Paolantonio said. "So go home."
I suspect somebody's head at Bristol World Headquarters exploded over Paolantonio's on-air frankness (the marriage is off!), but Favre has done a spectacular job of tarnishing his legacy in a few short months. Matt Millen is contagious, I guess.
By the way, anybody still questioning Ted Thompson's and Mike McCarthy's decision to go with Aaron Rodgers?

Come on---Strahan would have got the record without him. It's no big deal either way. It was Favre's way to pay homage to a fellow hall-of-famer.

Hey Sal---you're no Hall of Famer reporter in the first place. You have to bring attention to yourself by trying to strick up "untruths" about someone great in their profession by someone who will be no better than second rate in there profession.

I have to admit, Bret's comments about his talk with Mat Millen did sound a bit hokey to me. However Bret is a common man ( I mean that in a good way) and doesn't think over every comment he makes.
But I bet a lot of this sharing of information goes on between friends and relatives on opposing teams. If I had a brother on an opposing team I can't imagine not confiding in him....just saying.

Nice work, Sal, you have clearly exposed what the National Enquirer already knows; bullshit sells.
Of course, you work for those affected by the fumes of Lake Compost, for a presumed international reporter of sports information that has yet to stop playing favorites in their reporting so it is not likely you are motivated to grow up.
Starr, Taylor, and Horning are still the best backfield GB has fielded. Too bad Sal wasn't even alive to see that.

Hey Sal, I do not know who you are or what you do but you should try another occupation. Brett Favre is thee NO. 1 QB in the National Football League and until someone breaks all his records he will remain that way. By the way, Brett will play for the Jets this year and next and then go back to Green Bay and have his No. retired. He will then work for the organization and the team he loves. If Brett was going to give anyone information which he hasn't, he could certainly pick a better team than the Lions. All you have to look at in the NFL is how many QB's are still standing and able to play the game. Your comment about Ted Thompson, McCarthy and Rodgers is also off base. It was Brett who in 2006 stated that the team was becoming one of the most talented he has ever seen. He then began to mold them into a formidal team and broke all records in 2007. Without Brett that would not have happened. Just look at what he has done for the Jets in the short time he is there. So SAL find another job and please stay out of the media. GO PACK GO and best of luck to you Brett!!!!

Sal Paolantonio is a real jerk! I have no idea who the guy is, but obviously he has little or no knowledge of professional sports, human nature, or common civility. He thinks Favre is a liar.....I think Paolantonio is a pathetic jerk. I'd like five minutes alone with the guy to teach him a thing or two about respect.

Hey Sal. If the media would do it's job and spend this much time reporting all of Barack Obamas LIES to the American People, maybe we would not be on the verge of electing a solialist, liar, corrupted sleezy politician with no experience or record except for hanging out with other radical racist, communist and terrorist to the United States office of The President along with the rest of the corrupt criminals like himself. The media's peragitives are totally whacked!!!!

This crap just goes to show how screwed up human nature has gotten. We all love to read CRAP that a crap throwing reporter puts out. What happened to reporters putting out good stories about anything, and anyone? We the public buy the junk ( enquire, etc.)that keeps mud slinging reporters employed. Favre has proven himself to everyone involved with footbal; being a hall of famer proves that. The reporter writing this article has proven what, and who he is. Favre; you could shave for the pics that are being taken of you -- lol.

Well I can only say that I don't know what happened nor does anyone else know what happened. I do know one thing. Half of the negative comments being made by people who call Brett a drama queen or washed up could not take a hit from their grandchildren or children let a lone a linebacker in the NFL Stand in his shoes a man who loves the game. For Love of the game I don't believe that he would sell out a team he gave so much pain and love for.
I only say sports people want you to read them and will write what it takes. Not always the facts.
Get a life you couch people. Your armchair opinion from sitting on the couch and never being on field really makes me laugh.
