In one of the more bizarre press releases you will ever read, the Cleveland Browns took time to explain both their commitment to staph infections and also to let everyone know to bench Kellen Winslow on your fantasy team this weekend.Cleveland has suspended Winslow for one game without pay because of "conduct detrimental to the club," for admitting to the media he was unhappy with the way General Manager Phil Savage handled his "illness" situation.
The press release talks about how the Browns are "committed to winning and taking care of (their) players" for three paragraphs before even mentioning the suspension. Think seven staph infections since 2005 is a problem with the Browns? Well, according to the team, you just need to pay more attention in meetings!
During training camp, the entire team took part in an extensive presentation by experts in the field of infectious diseases. It was an educational meeting that informed players of the issues, how to prevent and minimize the risks of infection, and what preventative measures we as an organization had employed to assure maximum safety for the team combined with a Q&A session for the players. Kellen was in attendance at that meeting. Since that meeting, not one player has approached me, Romeo Crennel, or our medical staff with concerns as to how we have dealt with this issue.
Winslow will not be at practice this week or attend any of the meetings with his teammates until next Monday. While the suspension seems a little out there for the mild comments he made, I guess this is how the Browns roll.
Hell, if you were on the Bengals you could have shot "I'm upset" with a tommy gun on the side of the general manager's car a la "Dick Tracy" and you wouldn't even have been fined.

That's the way Browns, lets alienate and suspend our Pro Bowl tight end. One of the few guys with fire and who wants to win on the team. No wonder Cleveland sucks so bad and can't sustain a winning team. It gets harder every week to be a Browns fan.

Same old story, management and the company screw up so they blame the employees. The industry does not matter, all the same.

steelrut,
your missing an important point, what would you expect out of a Miami (college) player, most importantly, his father was a great person, and didn't act like his son. I think Kellen Winslow is a spoiled brat...

I have felt your pain, Mr D....We Giant fans had to suffer eighteen years of total embarrassment until Tuna fjnally straightened things out. Winslow may have to be Shockeyed before this is all over. It's a shame too, because he has a lot of talent hiding behind that big mouth.

it's easy to sit back and comment like we know as much as "professionals" and normally we are misguided or uninformed.
But this is a blatant rip off that they are parading out each sunday.
who gives a crap about winslow, maybe quinn will never be anything but to sit him behind DA? Crennel is an obese pig who can't take care of himself never mind coach in the NFL.
Thomas and the o-line finnally arrive and all we can give them is a 2-4 record to show for it. who is it that is so stupid that they can only have a playbook with about 4 different looks?
Metcalf up the middle looks like rocket science to our game plans
