Yesterday's accusations from FOX's Jay Glazer about Brett Favre providing information to the Lions about the Packers offense became, naturally, a big story. Favre's reputation as Green Bay's golden boy was tarnished by his comeback shenanigans but, if true, this would rate him somewhere below Lynn Dickey on the list of all-time Packer favorites. Favre denied the accusations via one of his biggest admirers, Peter King. King relayed the information on NBC last night and shared Favre's text message in his column on SI.com this morning.
"Total bs ... not true and pretty ridiculous. I'm telling you it's not true. What the hell is their [FOX's] problem?''The Lions COO Tom Lewand also denied the report but, in a move that could be interpreted many different ways, coach Rod Marinelli declined to comment.
Perhaps Marinelli didn't want to admit it -- his team still got routed by the Packers -- but more damning fuel comes from Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal.
Two league sources said Sunday they had been told of Favre contacting the Lions last month, before Glazer's report. One said the report was "absolutely" true.Given the way Favre's departure from Green Bay was covered, it's a safe bet that this isn't the last we'll be hearing of this story. More denials and accusations will follow, but the only thing for sure at this point is that Favre should be spending more time helping fix the Jets offense than teaching other teams about the Packers.

I was born in 1985. Almost all of my football memorise since childhood include Favre. He's probably the only athlete I've ever idolized. When he first announced his retirement, I felt like football would never be quite the same. But after his subsequent un-retirement and the shennanigans that followed, his reputation had already taken a hit with me.
If this story proves to be true, Brett Favre is dead to me as a football fan and he should never get his number retired or be put in the Packers' hall of fame.
Almost every move Favre has made the last few months has just further served to validate Thompson's decision.
Let's all hope for "Football"'s sake, and Farve's, that this is not true. It would be beneath anything he could do to himself or reputation. I am willing to hold out the verdict until proof has been shown.
Brett Favre is not benedict Brett. If we believed everything we heard, the world would be coming to an end tomorrow.
Who does Woodson think he is. I do not have any respect for Woodson or any other Packer player who would make these accusations.
Brett Favre gave the Packers his all for 16 years & was kicked by Ted Thompson who deserved to be tarred & feathered & run out of town.
The others like Mark Murphy don't dare say anything & neither does McCarthy or they would be fired. Ted Thompson is a figure who doesn't look like he has the sense to come in out of the rain. He kicked Brett out because he drafted Rodgers & wanted the credit for it if Rodgers did good.
There will never be another Brett Favre. Rodgers learned from Brett Favre. Why don't people understand that?
Reporters should be put in jail for doing this to Brett Farve. I am a Cowboys fan but I would never believe this to be true of Brett Farve. Reporters should be held responsible for lies and put in jail, fined and never allowed to be a reporter again. Freedom of Press is allowed in this country but it is always some reporter who ruins it. I hope this reporter pays for what he has started and if people want to back him up then they should be jailed too, fined and not allowed to be reporters also.
The Packers are the guilty party here, namely Ted Thompson. Brett has taken the high road all along, and done nothing to "tarnish" the Packers, a team that Brett would still love to be playing for. Why are the Packers guilty??? Because it's so unbelievable how they treated Brett with such disrespect. So unbelievable that fans and media think Brett should have desire to rebel against the team.
Brody, I couldn't have said it any better. I agree with you 110%, just wish more Packers fans did.
Favre is a genuine guy; he can talk to whoever he wants to about whatever he wants to. It's a game; get over it...Thompson ran Favre out of Green Bay, why should Favre be a Packer fan anymore? Favre is still the man, and will always be the man.
Don't believe everything you hear? Well, first he said he was retiring. Then I heard he wanted to come back from every source in the media. Then he let everyone know it was BS and rumors and he didn't want to come back....remember that???!! Now he's playing for the Jets! So don't blame me when I don't believe him.....GO PACK!
First of all, Brody, when you speak to Virgie, clean up your language. Now. Whether or not Brett shared the playbook is of no consequence. He has already demonstrated that he is not a man of his word by "unretiring". Crazy and wacko as you all may think I am, the karmic football gods are slowly catching up with him. People don't respond to lies...period. They ignore them. So let's just let Brett and the Jets be. They'll find their way or not. It's not our problem. But, seriously, Brody, clean up your language dude.
Even if this is true... SO WHAT???? It is not the SLIGHTEST bit against the rules. It happens ALL the time. How many players in the league are bouncing around from team to team from season to season? How many of them do you think share info about the team they used to play for? I'll tell you... A LOT.
If I was Favre, and had been ran out of town and treated as horribly as he did by the Packer organization and fans after all he has given them... I would be calling EVERY team the Packers play and doing ANYTHING I can to help other teams win. TT and MM need to PAY for the horrible way they treated this legend.
I hope he DID do it, and I hope he KEEPS doing it... because it is not against any rules at all, and the Packers deserve it.
If I here one more person say that Ted Thompson and the Packers ran Brett Favre out of town without thinking about it, I am going to scream. Brett did a pretty good job of running himself out of town--HE RETIRED--remember? Only when he and screwball, Bus Cook, realized that there was going to be NO free trade ticket punched to Minnesota, did Brett pretend like he really wanted to come back to Green Bay. Fact of the matter is, I think he is pretty disappointed in himself for the NFC Championship game because he played as poorly as anyone in that game and he knows that he probably wouldn't fare any better in another COLD (not snowy) playoff game in Lambeau. If he really wants to tarnish his legacy, he can talk all he wants to other teams. The little feeling of vindication he gets will pale in comparison to the damage he does to his reputation among Packer fans and Packer players who have moved on and put the TEAM first ahead of any one player. He's not GOD and he can't walk on water. I loved watching him in the green and gold for 16 years just like every other Packer fan, but its about time he take the high road. Life's too short, and there alot of old teammates in that locker room who will feel betrayed by this latest stunt (which was why Favre was so quick to deny it) despite more and more proof that in fact he spoke to the Lions at length.
I would expect a TT apologist to jump all over this and say he's lying. Were you in on the call? Mabey Favre did do this and mabey he didn't. Only a few people know for sure. But even if he did, so what.
And stop with the "moved on" bs. That phrase makes we want to vomit. It reeks of arrogance and foolishness. For those of use that are pissed about your boy wanting to prove a point and make this his team(this is proven by his unwillingness to get FA's) and getting rid favre, are not living in the past. Mabey just mabey we have the expectaion of our gm to make this team better and have give it the best chance to win. Thats what many of us who despise TT feel. I have no confidence in this guys ability to make this team any better than what it is. It was his disbanding of a team that had a chance just to get his youth movement on. Our team is going to be stuck on average for a long time and it wont go away until this moron is gone. He essentialy pulled this century' s version of 86ing it. he didn't clean house, but he got rid of the one player that made them just good enough to be a contender. You cannot tell me that if saw another team that was as close as we were last year make moves that take them out of contention, that you wouldn't think they were fools.
You can be a lemming and homer all you want. But don't for a second think that people who are pissed about this are being controlled out of emotion.
I don't think anyone wants this to be true and nobody should until all the facts are out. Unfortunately we live in a world today where you are guilty until proven innocent.
If true this is the "Ultimate Betrayal" especially after seeing his introductory press conference with the Jets and him pronouncing "I will always be a Green Bay Packer", This if found true (it won't be hard to find the truth either if he did) would severely tarnish his rep especially with Packer fans maybe enough to keep him out of being honored as he should have been for his service to the team.
I just wish that all of the people that are treating Brett as a god would stop. He was and is the most excellent of football players and has been for the last 16 or so years. As far as personality goes, yes he has that "aw shucks" down home country boy thing going but don't believe for one second that he wouldn't do anything to preserve his legacy and possibly make someone else look bad. It just seems that the Packers are his target if this is true. No one is above revenge, it is just human nature.
I only wish Brett the best for whatever remains of his time in the NFL. He is the greatest QB to have ever played the game.
Is this against the rules at all? I don't think so. Of course, it shows a complete lack of class by the guy.
I think what will be worse for him than GB being successful without him is the hit his image will take over this.
He's becoming pathetic
