The Browns haven't been to Washington since 1991. Judging by what we saw at FedEx Field today, no one will be clamoring for a quick rematch.
The Redskins did beat the Browns 14-11 in a very bad offensive game. Both halves ended in missed field goals. Luckily for the Redskins, Phil Dawson missed his 54-yard attempt with :25 left and the Redskins slinked out with the win.
The first half was filled with nothing but dropped passes and punts. Cleveland didn't punt at all in their Monday night win over the New York Giants. The Browns punted on their first seven drives today. There were a total 16 punts between the two teams in this one as the first 14 possessions ended in 13 punts and one missed field goal.
The excitement came from Clinton Portis. On a day filled with awesome rushing numbers, the NFL's leading rusher pounded out 175 yards and the game's first touchdown. He also nearly gave the game away as his fumble deep in his own territory gave Cleveland just enough breath to mount a comeback.
The last quarter was thrilling but nothing before it was. Browns quarterback Derek Anderson completed just five of his first 22 yards as he over and under threw most of his targets. When he did actually deliver the ball, the Cleveland receivers were dropping the passes.
The Redskins move to 5-2 and stayed just a half game behind the Giants in the NFC East. Cleveland drops to 2-4.
Washington faces the winless Detroit Lions next week. The Redskins have faced a winless team twice before this season and have lost both games.

Talk about useless stats: "The Redskins have faced a winless team twice before this season and have lost both games." The Skins lost to the 0-0 Giants in the first game of the season and to the 0-4 Rams. I assume the author thinks that makes some sort of statistical pattern. How about this useless stat: "In the first week of the season, 16 teams lost to teams that hadn't won a game this season." It makes just as much sense.

Your right about the useless stats. Yes Clinton Portis was good but 175 Yard rushing would of been more like 120 if Derek Anderson could actually hit an open reciever in the first half. The Browns gave the Redskins every chance to figure out their defense by giving the ball back repeatedly. No disrespect to Clinton, but the Browns Defense was good and Clinton was really good against a good Defense. Some times stats are misleading.

This is a game the Browns could have, and should have won.D Anderson was horrible again, but I don't blame him for the loss alone. The Head Coach is the biggest liability on their side of the field.Crennell is simply a terrible coach and a non-motivator,period.It's now time to start the Brady Quinn era.We now have nothing left to lose anyway.Might as well see what we have in the backup.

You are right on target. The call in the 4th to go for the TD instead of the field goal was incomprehensible. Brady is the future and we better get started now.... Romeo could have been fired if the Browns defense had not forced the turnover and fumble recovery. I am tired of this coaching from Romeo.

Good thing there were other late games to watch as these two teams set back football 50 years. I had no confidence the Skins would win it, and they did everything in their power to give it away. I was very confident that the Browns would choke it away, however, and they came thru in the clutch-Again!!!
The Skins will compete in the not as good as advertised NFC East. The Browns will compete for the third spot in the draft behind Detroit and Cincy, the other two perenial losers everyone else beats up on.

Mr.G and Jerry, I think you are pretty much on target. Crennell has had several justifiable opportunities to make the switch to Quinn, but he has elected to stick with Anderson- the one year wonder who (with the exception of the surprise performance against NY last week) has not played well since giving everything up in his miserable performance against Cincinnati last year. Romeo it's time to go and take Juliet with you...

That was a pathetic game.
Play Quinn or trade him, Anderson is not a NFL quarterback who can perform on a consistent basis.
Crennel should lose 100lbs. and show his players some sort of respect. Would you listen to an obese pig tell you how to play a mans sport.

Why in the hell did they go for the td in the 4th? what an IDIOT. why do they still have him as the coach.. the guys and ass... It could have been tied then gone into over time and maybe have gotten the win... Why are they so afraid of Quinn? of does Anderson kissing someones A**? getting little tired of these losses year after year.. with STUPID mistakes.
