In his recap of the Eagles-Redskins game, fellow FanHouser and Eagles fan Enrico Campitelli shared Donovan McNabb's assertion that the Eagles were better than the Redskins even though they lost today.Even after all of this, the Redskins are still not respected.
All Washington did was beat the Saints, Cardinals, Cowboys and Eagles in a row. That after losing a 16-7 yawner against the Giants in the season opener. All of those teams fancy themselves as playoff hopefuls.
They've also pulled off an amazing feat by winning in Dallas and Philadelphia in consecutive weeks. Three weeks ago, experts were glowing that those were the two best teams in the NFL. Both are in the Redskins rear view mirror.
Oh, they'll see each other again. The Redskins are halfway through their division schedule. They get another crack at the Cowboys, Eagles and Giants -- but all games will be played at FedEx Field.
The Redskins should be around for the long haul. Their next three opponents (Rams, Browns, Lions) are a combined 1-11. There is a really good chance that Washington could be 7-1 before an Election Day Eve battle with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jason Campbell has the NFL's eighth-highest passer rating. He has set a franchise record for consecutive passes without an interception. Clinton Portis is second in rushing. Their sixth-ranked offense has yet to turn over the football. The Eagles gave up just 215 yards on the ground all season long. The Redskins rushed for 203 yards today.
The defense has been equally amazing. Without four starters today, the defense held the Eagles offense to just 10 points (the other Philly TD was scored on special teams). Donovan McNabb threw for under 200 yards and Brian Westbrook did minimal damage (33 yds rushing, 51 yds receiving).
This defense held the Giants to 16 points, became the only team in 13 games to hold the Cardinals under 20 points, held the high-octane Saints to just 250 yards and held the Cowboys to their lowest scoring output of the season. Other than seeing those NFC East teams again, there are no offenses out there that can match up to what they've already seen.
Washington has dominated late in games. They are outscoring opponents 34-10 in the fourth quarter.
This isn't a fluke. Going back to last year, the Redskins have won 8 of 9 regular season games. They have already finished their toughest part of the schedule. This is the first time the Skins have been 4-1 since 1999 ... their last NFC East title.
Maybe the Redskins won't repeat that feat, but at least they are back in the discussion.

OK so maybe we were wrong to say that Danno the Midget was being his typical Napoleanic self when he hired Jim Zorn. It's a long ways to go but the 'Skins look like the eral deal for the first time in a long time.

Yessir, This has been a long time coming. Only time I saw the skins coming back in games and this confident was in the stands of RFK in 91' fantastic job by Jim Zorn in taking on Gibbs foundation of a winning team. It feels good to be on top of the best division and finally getting some respect with a good qb and well rounded team. Go Skins Let us stay Healthy.
One downside can we get a damn pass rush!

Absolutely right. I don't really know how good the Giants are. Frankly, our 4-1 against them, Philly, Dallas, New Orleans, and Arizona, looks a lot better than their 4-0 against us, then St. Louis, Cincy, and Seattle. Their record is 'better' because, first, they've played one less game than we have, and second, because they're beefing up on all of the cupcakes that the Skins haven't played yet.
Granted, I'm kind of relieved, especially after last year's schedule. The Redskins sort of get screwed a little bit in terms of schedule. Remember 3 games in 11 days last year against the Bucs, Bills, and Bears? Sean's death notwithstanding, who the hell thought that up? I'm not gonna say that someone higher-up has it in for us, but you've gotta admit, it looks a little sketchy.

Bandwagon? Isn't that what Dallas fans ride on? The scheduling has been a little unfair. Clinton Portis mentioned it in an article I read on ESPN.com on Sunday. But hey, the team has now beaten them at their own game by winning those tough games. And I don't think we have much to complain about overall, as both the divisions we have to play against this year are populated by bad teams. Lions, Bears, Packers, Vikings, Browns, Bengals, Steelers, Ravens. There are only a couple teams in there that approach decent.

i never realized the teams the giants beat until now...i think we are gonna win our first division title since "99" and honestly at least make it to the nfc champioship game.we've won tough games on the road not to mention without jason taylor against dallas and him along with shawn springs, and marcus washington against the eagles and both were on the road.... HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!!

Puhleeez. The Deadskins haven't played a good team yet. They haven't been tested. The Eggles? Yawn. We beat them too. So what.
Fact --- you can take it to the bank -- the COWBOYS are the best team in the NFL. No one is better than us. No one can beat us. This Superbowl is ours!
I repeat -- the Deadskins haven't played a good team yet.

I agree with the comment about McNabb being overrated... does he have any concept of "touch pass"? All the sportscasters wanted to do was talk about the Eagles receivers dropping passes, but sheesh, he was just throwing rockets at them from 5 yards away... I'm doubting anyone could catch them.

Although Im a Skins fan and detest the Eagles, I always thought Mcnabb was a class act til now.For him to say they were a better team than the Skins and Bears was ludicrous.Maybe hes always been a whiner and just didnt show it.Really the score shouldnt have been that close, except for the gift punt return. And the D had four starters missing and still shut him down bad. Time for you to go down for the season with a hangnail, Mcnabb

My only worry is that the Skins are putting alot of pressure on themselves this early. It would be heartbreaking to see them go a long way only to wear down as the playoffs start.
