It was a pretty great day for the city of Philadelphia. Unfortunately, none of that greatness can be attributed to its football team. For the second straight week, the Eagles offense failed to convert on short yardage plays near the goal line and it cost them the game. The Washington Redskins ran all over the Eagles and simply played like the better team today.During his post game press conference, Donovan McNabb said that he didn't feel like the Redskins are a better team than his Eagles. Comcast analyst and serious football guru, Ray Didinger, didn't exactly agree. To paraphrase Mr Diddy, "Who went down to Dallas and came away with a win? Not you. Who came into the Linc and beat you on your home field? Who made the playoffs last season? Not you. Who has won four straight games? Not you."
Yeah, things aren't going so well for the Eagles.
The AP's Rob Maadi sums up most of Philadelphia's current sentiments on the Eagles rather succinctly.
They were the only NFC East team to miss the playoffs in 2007, finishing last for the second time in three years. With Donovan McNabb healthy coming into this season, they were hoping to make a run at the Super Bowl. Instead, they're buried in last place again. While things on the Eagles front continue to teeter below mediocrity, the Redskins have beaten two of their biggest division rivals on the road in consecutive weeks.
Hip, hip, friggin' horray to that.

I expected the Skins to be 3 & 3 at after 6 weeks, with hopefully one division win. They won today without 3 defensive starters. That's amazing. They'll only get better. Still, there are Eagles' fans who, while down on their team, wii always believe the Eagles are better than the Redskins. By the end of this season, they'll be in hiding. How sweet that is.

The Skins don't have a lot of big names on defense, but they have a lot of guys on 2nd & 3rd string who've had a lot of playing time (mostly due to injuries to starters the last couple of seasons), who can really play. As a result, they outlast other teams and end up dominating in the 4th quarter.

I've been a Redskins fan since the sixties. Seen the up and the down seasons. This year is encouraging. They have a new-found energy and attitude. I'm sure Jim Zorn has a lot to do with it. Everyone's on the same page; Similar to Tony Dungy with Indy. Someone gets hurt and can't play, just plug someome else in and they're ready to go. It's great! Go Skins!!

Dont know how Mcnabb can say that. The only reason they were close was because of the homecooking TD gift they got on the punt return. We had 4 defensive starters on the bench and still shut them down. Think since Mcnabb stopped scrambling he is just a mediocre QB.Stick a fork in the Eagles cause they are done.

I'm not a 'Skins fan, but many people underestimated how good they really are, epecially after having their asses handed to them in week 1 by the Giants. Offensively, they could not move the ball and Jason Campbell looked like a guy fresh out of college. But he now seems 'comfortable' in the west coast offense and if he and Portis can stay on the same page, they may win 10-12 games. Defensively, they will get better with key guys coming back from injuries.

A win is a win and the end of the story is the Skins beat the Cowboys. Does that win give the Skins bragging rights? No if the refs had made the right call on the field goal Dallas would have won by one. The Skins got the win but as far as the game goes it was a push and a wait until they play in Washington.

typical cowgirls fan....Wahhhhhh, we lost because of......this that and the other thing. I watched the replay on NFL network and it was a field goal; albeit it was close, but it WAS 3 points. Anytime you spoiled brats lose you always have an excuse...BE A Man and take your loss, your team has too many chiefs and not enough indians (sic)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Socko, I dont think we watched the same game. The game was alot more lopsided than the score. The Cowboys were dominated. Period. Even the Cowboys said that. Take the fan blinders off and be honest.

Who is worse....Andy Reid the coach who on consecutive weeks called plays that couldn't get his team in the end zone or Andy Reid the General Manager who does not have a tight end nor a fullback and a bunch of #3 wide receivers???

Maybe you should leave the room for a while.
Come back with this argument once the Giants have beaten a team that's over .500.

Wow... Mcnabb should not have said that. I respect the Eagles (I am a die hard Skins Fan) but I feel that one comment he made is very disrespectful.... and honestly..it was dumb. Accept the FACT that you got BEAT by the better team yesterday. Eagles are a great team.... but shut mcnabbs big mouth.
Have some respect for the SKINS.... before they MAKE YOU respect them.
Wait.... that happened already....ok NEXT.

Been an Eagles fan my whole life. Every other team has caught the Eagles and passed them by. The Eagles are done. Need new Quaterback and must Get rid of Coach. With the Owner RAKING IN BIG BUCKS every year that will never happen. Philly Fans have run Players , Coaches, Even an Owner or two out of town. It might take a while , But two if not Three of them MUST GO. That window they always talk about closing has SHUT TIGHT on Cap't ANDY and his Eagles. It's over. GO Phil's. Thank God the Flyers Season is Starting.

Been die hard Eagles fan for over 40 years and it blows my mind that every week Reid sits in front of the podium and says the same thing .. "its my fault" I need to execute better plays blah blah blah.. he needs to RUN THE DARN BALL..!! and get some new 2 min drill plays.as Ray D says on tv the Eagles are 8-36 when they run the ball less than 20 times.. yesterday? 19 Kudos to Skins they kicked butt

Socko,
First off you're an idiot for posting Cowgirl gibberish on a Skins/Eggles article.
The Skins manhandled Dallass in Texass Stadium in the last game b/w the two teams there. It was a 9-point game with 3+ minutes left and you Cowgirl fans think it was a close game? Cowgirl fans are the Duke fans of the NFL. No one can stand your team of dope addicts, your best player is a closet cowboy hater, and Hromo is 0-3 vs the Skins in Dallass in his career. Face it, the Skins are better than the Eggles and Cowgirls, even without all of our starters. The Skins have also shut down Brees, Warner, Hromo, and McNugget in consecutive weeks. How Bout dem Skins!
Hail to the Redskins!

I think the other question this poses is this: How good are the "perfect" Giants, really?
The Redskins' opening 5 weeks were BEASTLY. They're 4-1 having played the Cardinals (at the top of their division) the Saints (starting to hit their stride), the Giants (who got the Skins on kickoff Thursday...a week after our FIFTH preseason game), the Cowboys (at Dallas) and the Eagles (in Philly)
After the Giants beat the Skins at home, they played...St. Louis (who is performing so badly that they couldn't even wait until the end of the season to fire their head coach), Cincinatti (whose coach's head is likely next on the chopping block, no matter what 'inside sources' say), whom they couldn't even put away in regulation, and Seattle (who has been getting trounced by everybody this year). They also had the luxury of a bye in the middle of eating all of those cupcakes.
As much as I sometimes don't like the strength of schedule argument, you've got to admit that the Redskins' 4-1 looks as good as, if not better than, the Giants' 'perfect' record right now.
