Chargers bench warmer defensive end Jacques Cesaire and former Raiders, Chargers and Dolphins bench warmer Akbar Gbaja-Biamila are on a mission: They don't want to see any more disgusting scenes like the one on the right.Yes, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi getting married somehow threatens families or something, so Cesaire and Gbaja-Biamila are taking time out of their busy schedules to go on a crusade in favor of Proposition 8, which would ban gay marriage in California. OutSports.com describes one of the commercials they're appearing in:
Gbaja-Biamila: Hi, I'm Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, and I support a Biblical marriage between a man and a woman. So, all the people who take their cues from Gbaja-Biamila and Cesaire can preen themselves for being in the light. The rest of us can enjoy the darkness.
Cesaire: And I'm Jacques Cesaire, a professional football player. This election, let's stand up for what we believe in.
Gbaja-Biamila: Yes on 8
After they speak, there is a presentation labeling Prop 8 as a "battle between light and darkness."

MDS, why does everything with you have to be tainted with your obvious liberalism. You have talent to be a great writer but are so bias its ridiculous. Stop writing about things political even it is somewhat sports related. Nobody cares what Akbar or Cesaire says but it gives you another change to rip on traditional values. Personally, I think you should be fired because this has happened many times.

Let me get this right, so you want KGB to be tolerant of others viewpoints (Ellen & Portia's), but then you show your intolerance of KGB's viewpoints by presenting a straw man argument for their view?

Agree with Clint Kirby above. In the media and entertainment world, free speech is only for the liberal voice. I hate the word 'intolerance' because it's always supposed to be a one-one street.
Free speech is for everyone.

I wasted to second the comments made above. Just because some of us go to church on Sundays besides checking our fantasy rosters doesn't make our point of view any less deserving of the public square.

There's just something here that leads me to believe you're not a conservative - or heterosexual.

Although I do side with liberal view on this subject, i do agree that a football blog is probably not the best place for these type of postings. I do understand the post is football related in. We all visit this site because all of us do agree on one thing, we're passionate about football.

MDS- You seem to feel that because these two guys are bench warmers, rather than starters, that their political beliefs are less important (since there was no other reason to mention their status with the teams). So perhaps, because you are a mere blogger, rather than a real journalist (you know, someone who actually receives a paycheck from a newspaper), we should take your opinion less seriously as well.

This is absolutely incredible. If a "conservative" said something like this they would pull it down or at very least be very critical. Michael David Smith should be ashamed of himself but this is the typical crap he writes. All liberal BS.

Our country is in financial peril. There are families still homeless 3 years after a major hurricane and law abiding taxpaying citizens may have trouble affording heat in their homes this winter. Gay marriages.......who ****ing cares!!!

This marriage offends me. Not because it's a homosexual marriage, but because now Ellen Degeneres is somehow associated with Arrested Development.

What a pathetic, ridiculous, pointless and totally nonsensical post for this forum.
I used to like reading your blog entries, until i knew your politics. Now i'll never read you again. If you'd stuck to sports you'd have one more fan than you do now. And i bet i'm far from the only one.
Idiot.
Gays shouldn't marry. Or raise children. Abortion is murder. God is real. Liberals are naive, thoughtless, fascistic, opportunistic lovey-dovey Pollyanna-ish pawns. And guns should NEVER be restricted. Seriously.
How do YOU like ME now?
Divisive leftist propagandist jagoff.
