In a LA Times article discussing his new mega stadium, Jerry Jones manages to offend both Cowboy and Texan fans in three sentences:The Cowboys have never been about checkered tablecloths and boots and hats. They've been about glitz and glitter. Leave the other stuff to the Houston Texans.Jerrah. Let me splain something to you. I'm guessing that most Cowboy fans don't want to have their franchise described as "glitz and glitter." Perhaps it's less of a pejorative than "cocaine, mugshots and whores" so I suppose Dallas fans have that going for them.
Even so, you might as well have added "unicorns, rainbows and fairy dust" in your description. Even a fellow from Arkansas should figure out that most football-watching menfolk don't want their team described as glittery.
And well, it isn't terribly accurate. Check out the picture of Cowboy mascot Rowdy and his cheerleader friend. Looks like boots and hat to me. They'd probably also have a checkered tablecloth too if they were dining alfresco.
Texans owner Bob McNair refused to take the bait and laughed about it:
I'm not offended by what Jerry said. I'm glad he knows we're the Texans. I'm proud to be a Texan and a Houstonian....I don't think it's always about glitz and glitter. Houston's a hardworking city, and the Texans are a hardworking team. I don't see anything wrong with checkered tablecloths, hats and boots. Most people in Texans don't wander about daily in western hats and boots, but some of them do. And when the rest of us have the occasion put on our western finery, we have no shame in representing that we are Texans, and that hats and boots are a part of our heritage. I believe that is true for most folks living in Texas, whether you are a Cowboy fan, a Texan fan, or a fan of both franchises.
Maybe Jerry Jones is implying that his team is glitzy, glittery Cowboys as portrayed in this YouTube:

Some of us are bright enough to understand that Jerry was referring to the glamorous history of the Cowboys organization. Certainly a far cry from implying they're a bunch of fags, as your little video suggests.

The culmination of every derogatory statement that I have ever made in a lifetime of hating the cowgays could never amount to the damage done by Jerrah using "glitz and glitter" to describe a football team in Texas. I can't believe I'm writing this, but "Thank you Jerry Jones" and I can't wait to see their spirit fingers on Sunday!
This is a banner day for me when I find myself genuinely thankful to the owner and a fan of the cowgirls. So here goes - Thank you jraintdead for stating that "Some of us are bright enough to understand ..."
Translation - "Some refers to at least one. Counting me, I guess that's it. Man that's sad."

Steph, that video is absolutely perfect. Now I know why TO was crying over Rhomo being his "teammate". I think you just found their new theme song.

Another completely misinterpreted and biased story by Stradley... Report on something important, I've seen you do it occasionally.

Hey DallasCowboysRock-
Misinterpreted? I just quoted the man. Please tell us what he really meant: "Yes, you see I love plastic surgery, glitz and glitter, but only in the manly footbally way." Or maybe "I hate checkered tablecloths, boots and hats because I'm a wanna be New Yorker and am very sofistocated and culchured."
As for bias, well yeah. If you want to read straight up quotes, read the AP wires.
Thanks all for reading and commenting,
Steph

Jerry Jones is the most disliked man in Dallas. People laugh at him., particularly after he had his terrible face lift. He has $$$ but no class. He would proposition his sister if he was in his usual drunken state. He is gold-plated trash. A bufoon
