The Oakland Raiders will install Tom Cable as their new head coach today, Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting.Cable takes the place of Lane Kiffin, who was fired today.
The 43-year-old Cable was head coach at Idaho from 2000 to 2003, where he compiled an 11-35 record. He played his college ball at Idaho and briefly played for the Indianapolis Colts in 1987, and has had several stops as an assistant coach since then, including working as offensive line coach of the Falcons and as offensive coordinator at UCLA.
The selection of Cable is a bit of a surprise, as reports earlier this season indicated that Raiders owner Al Davis was considering either James Lofton, Paul Hackett or Rob Ryan for the job.

somebody should take AL to the rest home. He has been a clown over the last 7-8 years with these changes.
Steinbrenner started out that way until someone told him to
count your money and leave the coaching and playing to the guys you are paying. More playoffs and championships the more MONEY in your pockets.
Hopw long for THE CABLE GUY before he is shown the exit.

Oops! There are a few itty-bitty typos in the title. It should read, "Tom Cable is the Next Oakland Raiders Scapegoat for Al Davis' Megalomaniacal Ineptitude." Just die, Al. Please, please, PLEASE DIE.

Help! Oh well, serves the Raiders right. All of that "Just Win Baby" evil, encouraged by John Madden and Tom Flores have finally caught up with the Raiders.
Hey, in January 1984 I rooted loudly as the then L. A. Raiders spanked the 'Skins in the Super Bowl--but this incarnation needs the death panalty. Too bad for JaMarcus Russell that he has to play for Psycho Al Davis.

Tom Cable needs to run to the bank within an hour after getting his paycheck lest Al decide to make up an excuse for not paying him either.

Al has lost his backbone he needs to hire a hatchet man to do the necessary business of firing staff that do not produce. All coaches on the Raiders contributed to losing, so all coaches should participate in the firing process.Hiring a losing college coach from Boise sounds like more of the same to me. It looks like the Raiders will continue their newly acquired comittment to losing . Just as an afterthought why not weed out the players not performing cut the cap down and play some of the rookies if your going to lose anyway why not explore what you have waiting for the chance. Not happy about coach or decisions about this team.

"Just die Baby." Hurry Al, before you bury the Raiders. You hired the Cable Guy? What were you smoking? Senility now Al, death soon. This is funnier than the movie Cable Guy. Committment to losing will continue with Al in charge. Don't you have a son that could take over? You make the Niners look good.

Guys, calm down, this is all part of the fun of being a Raiders fan. I'm willing to bet Al as president would have a higher approval rating then George Bush. Mark my words, we are going to miss this crazy bastard. Word on the street is that Tom Cable is going to suit up and play left guard for us.

You know people I have been a Raider fan for 34 years of my life. When we were mean, hard hitting and just down right scary football players. I don't see any player on the field playing for the love of the game! The old Raiders played with heart and all they play for now is money. I want Maden and the Snake back to show the snot nose cry babies how a real man plays the game. I will always be apart of the Raider Nation I just want them to play with heart and make us proud.

It's simple as long as Al Davis is the GM we will never have a coach longer than 5 games. It takes time to build a relationship between the coach and the team. Al should just leave the organization..

Kiffin is just like most players these days, always looking for the best deal. He wanted out, so he's gone....Cable is a respected offense line coach w/NFL experience. Saw some good things in the last couple of games, so we'll see if they can build on that.....no need to panic, this is just business as usual in the NFL.
