During Sunday's Redskins-Cowboys game, Washington kicker Shaun Suisham lined up for a 33-yard field goal. As I was watching live, I thought the kick missed, but the officials immediately put their arms up, and I figured I just saw it wrong and didn't think much of it.Well, now The Landry Hat points out that you can watch the game highlights at NFL.com, with the field goal in question coming at the 2:12 mark. And I believe that the ball went just wide left (to the right from the vantage point of watching the NFL.com highlights) and the official standing directly under the goal post screwed up.
It's possible that I'm seeing it wrong on the replay and the official under the goal post saw it right, but I don't think so: I've reviewed the play frame-by-frame in high-definition via the DirecTV short cut, and I think the camera angle actually gives people watching on TV a better view than the on-field official had. It's a strange call to get wrong, but I think that official did. And it was extremely costly for the Cowboys, seeing as they lost by two points.

Same old thing. So called cowboy fans making excuses. New this year, that call is reviewable and your own team did not agree with you. In addition, the angle you speak of is not aligned with the goal post. If you pay attention the camera is centered on the cross bar. If you want to examine bad calls, how about the horrible holding penalty called on the center when Portis scored a TD. I would say the point here is there were some questionable calls, but at the end the Redskins not only won, but they deserved to win.
See ya in Fed Ex Field.

g&3jsr, DUDE! You seem to have been smoking crack with Michael Irvin! Since when has the league or any officials or TV or ANYBODY ever had Dallas as a "target"???!!!! When the afforementioned Irvin pushed off the defender on every pass that came his way, were you guys the target then?

Whenever the cowboys lose they have an excuse whenever they beat us we stink....same old same old.
The ref under the field goal had a better angle than any TV ever could. Get over it - we beat you in EVERY aspect of the game.

That whole game was full of blown calls and mistery penalties. Holding on Rabach was not there. At the same time, how could they miss the face mask penalty on PacMan is beyond me. I hope NFL reviews their tape and downgrades this officiating crew. They should be nowhere near a regular season game, much less a playoff game. On the other hand, as a die hard Redskins fan, it was nice to see the hated Cowboys get the short end of the stick.

The ball obviously hooked through the uprights. The ref had a WAY better view and angle. The review is only if it's below the top of the upright. This ball was above them, so it was not reviewable.

What a joke. Cowboys fans never surprise me with talk like this. Keep coming up with reasons for why you lost. Why can't you just admit that you were outplayed throughout the entire game.
Please, for once, put the blame on the Cowboys as a team, and not these wild conspiracy theories.

Well, much as I like to take the opinion of a Cowboys blog straight up on all matters Cowboys-related, why not go get the take of the offiicial Redksins' blog? At least they bothered to extend the upright on the screen cap.

It's a reviewable call. If it was wrong, challenge it. If not you can't complain. The Cowboys have NEVER been the target of bad calls. The NFL wants the 'Boys to do well.

T.O.s a bitch!
He's already complaining because he didn't get the ball enough! Boo-hoo! Tony Homo passed the ball to T.O. 18 times! Too bad you suck! If you weren't running your mouth all the time, you may have caught some of those balls.
Shawn Springs and Carlos Rogers, you guys rock!

Yeah man, you are a freaking idiot. Look at the screen cap before you make a worthless post wasting your time and every one elses. You could have eaten 2 more hot pockets in your moms basement instead of wasting time with this garbage. You think they would have reviewed it if they saw it wasn't good? Just take your loss already! Pathetic!!!

The only reason it was a 2 point game is because the redskins let the cowgirls march down the field in the last 3:00 minutes to eat up time. Give it up cowgirl fans::: your team lost to a better team that night!!!!

You sir, are an idiot. To think one has a better angle to determine where the ball is as it passes the imaginary lines involved(the upright and the cross bar) from an aerial shot from BEHIND the goal posts than one standing directly under the upright, exactly at the cross bar, is absolute idiocy. The simplest form of physics completely disregards this argument, the 2 dimensional view provided by the camera alone is enough to discount your argument. It is IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCURATELY GAGE WHERE THE BALL IS AS IT PASSES THESE TWO IMAGINARY PLANES.
You shouldn't let disgruntled fans dictate your writing so much.
