There is a rumor going around that the St. Louis Rams are actively trying to trade WR Torry Holt. If they cannot get him dealt soon, they may just release him. The tip came from the utmost reliable source: a caller to a talk radio show.
Wednesday morning an anonymous tip came to a local sports-talk station saying the Rams had released cornerback Fakhir Brown. The caller knew what he was talking about. The following morning, the same voice called at about the same time and said Linehan was trying to release or trade wide receiver Torry Holt because the two despise each other.
Normally, you scoff when crazy things like this are heard, but when this dysfunctional situation is analyzed, the realization hits you that anything is possible.
Like that excerpt said, it is crazy to believe that kind of rumor ... but you cannot totally dismiss it. Remember, this comes on the heels of Holt rolling over on his coach about the benching of Marc Bulger. This also comes after Holt made comments during the offseason that he wants to bolt St. Louis to join his brother in Carolina.
It would seem if there was a organizational decision to choose either Holt or head coach Scott Linehan, the Rams would chose Holt. Especially since there is a rumor that Linehan could be fired after their game with the Buffalo Bills today.

Dude, come on. The Rams would never just release Tory Holt just because a coach whose days are numbered doesn't like him. Now, they might trade him, but that is unlikely too. This is a stretch

HEY LANDRY, YOU ARE OH SO RIGHT! YOUR TALKIN ABOUT TORRY HOLT HERE!!!! THEY ALREADY LET BRUCE GO AND STEVEN JACKSON IS NOT ALL THAT! THEY LET HOLT GO AND THEY WILL TAKE A PAGE OUT OF MIAMI'S PLAYBOOK! 1-15 AND I'M BEING NICE! I PICK TORRY HOLT EVERY YEAR IN EVERY FANTASY TEAM I HAVE!!! NOW HE'S GETTING UP THERE IN AGE, BUT HE IS STILL A GREAT WIDEOUT AND I'D LOVE TO SEE HIM IN A EAGLE'S JERSEY! ALL HE NEED'S IS A GOOD QB TO GET HIM THE BALL! PUT HIM ON THE COLT'S AND THEY WOULD BE UNSTOPABLE!

Its time for Linehan to go. He's destroyed this once proud franchise. Even the Rams of the 90s werent this bad. This team has good players and good talent especially at the skill positions. But when you cant block and put your quarterback into getting smacked around its obvious what the problem is. Torry Holt isn't the problem here and neither is Steven Jackson. Its because Linehan has no idea of how to be a head coach in this league. Most of the Louisville head coaches or assistants that ended up in the pros including Bobby Petrino and now Linehan have been failures as pro coaches. They cant deal with the pro players because they are used to pushing around some college kid. Im a Louisville fan yet I couldnt believe that either of the jokers ended up as pro coaches. They didnt do anything terribly special here and to make the step from college to the NFL is a big one.
Marc Bulger has the problem of being hit early and often in every game. Trent Green didnt do anything today at all. Just another sorry performance by the players that Linehan picked. Getting rid of Issac Bruce was another stupid move, even as a 3rd receiver he would have been better than everyone except Holt. Its like the Rams of the early 90s again. Why they haven't fired Zygmunt and Linehan perplexes me. This was a perennial playoff contender from 1999 to 2005. Since then it has been a disaster yet the same people have been running the Rams into the ground. Its time for them to go.

Bill,
You sound like a true die hard fan, and some of the things you say make sense. But here is what I believe is wrong.
I was thinking about this the other day, when Vermiel too over he brought in(through draft, free agency, ect....) Warner, Pace, Horne, Hakim, Nutten, Little, Clemmons, Agnew, Fletcher, Jones"THE TACKLE", Bush, McCleon, Wistrom, Proehl, Tucker, In the end of the 98 season i read Shaw was mad, and slapped Vermiel on the wrist, and told him he had to make a qb change(Banks was then traded), he needed a new O" coordinator(well we all know how that went), and he would have less controll of personel descisions, so how much Vermiel factored in on personel in 99", i don't know.
So Armey then added Faulk, Green, Collins, Timmerman, Bly, and Holt. So think of how much of our S.B Championship team was built by Vermiel, and Armey, but largely Vermiel.
Then in the Martz years we drafted like crap, as talented players left in droves, no one replacing them, this continued into the Linehan years. Basically Vermiel, with some help from Armey built a great team. martz was handed over a Champion, he had nothing to do with building(but is often credited for this)and ran them into the ground.
I will give him this, as bad as a head coach as he was he still would have won in S.B 36 if Belecheck wasnt cheating, and playind dirty. But Martz to me is the main reason our team went down hill, and the guy is evil too, it's like his evil infected the remaining players. Holt, and Bruce whined about Bulger over Warner like little byatches, old woman cackling, and gossiping behind some other old ladies back at a canasta game, clearly Martz must have been egging them on(I think, don't know that for sure). Bulger asking coaches to asign a player to keep warner away from him during games!(acoarding to DrZ of sports illustrated), and ofcoarse the brand new "I don't want to play for Coach Linehan!,....WAAAAH!"
Could you imagine Jack Youngblood as the head coach, there would be body bags leaving RAMS Park, maybe they should hire this "MANS", man as head coach, if so, little wings would sprout on Holt, Bulger, and Jacksons backs, and they would fly away leaving a trail of shiny dust! Jackson whining about this, and that, and holding out after a 3-13 campaign, and Bruce, asked to take a pay cut after a 3-13 year, knowing we needed cap help too, cause we were tight, and he balks, so they cut the old prick, and where does he go?, to the NINERS!, the same team who once mocked him, and us as "THE SAME OLD RAMS", what a scumbag!
If you ask me gut this whole sick infected bunch out, and start again, trade Holt, Bulger, and Jackson. Little, and Pace the last of our S.B guys who seem like regular men, let them retire with dignity, hopefully the Rams will have that much class, and let them retire as RAMS.
Fat head Martz may not have infected everyone with his evil, remember this man benched Warner because he got into a fued with his wife, this is the sickest thing of all! If you think I bare false witness, think of Martz's comments over the years.
He first said in 2004 that Bulger was the best qb he ever had, then just two weeks ago he was saying O'Sullivan is the best he ever had, but it's never the former two time league, and S.B 34 MVP, or the guy who still has the most yards in a season passed in the NFC Conference, and most TD passes in the NFC Conference(he's like the NFC's MARINO). And when he was asked about the PATS cheating, he said you can't win games with that many turnovers, basically balking at the PATS cheating, and blaming Warner.
Funny, he could finally find some redemption himself, as many have blamed him personally for the loss over the years, yet would rather blame Warner, knowing well, besides the fact that they stole our D' signals when we played then earlier that year, they also ran that brutal maul, and tackle the recivers within 5 yards, thing, throwing off the timing, the same thing they did to Manning, until Dungy, and others, I think Martz too(see!), went to the league fed up, and they updated the rule, and the next year the Colts finally beat em' in the Championship Game!, I will allways remember Faulk saying WIllie McGhinest was practically tackling him to the ground in that area all game. So Martz new Warner looked off because of the dirty play of the PATS, he knows they stole our D" signals, forget matt Walsh's tape, why would they need it?, Martz knows all this yet his comment was you can't win when you turn the ball over that much, a clear shot at Warner. So this is no "Baring false witness", Martz got rid of Warner because of his fued with Brenda Warner, over a radio show comment....period!, and this is the man who was the role model of these men, some still here.
Our team is a sess pool, beleive me. Holt, looks like a good guy, looks and sounds like Will Smith, but he's no Will Smith, he's a prick!, I hope he never sees a playoff again, because withought his mouth, we would have still had Warner, and maybe we would not have been much better the way the Rams disintergtated the past 5 years i guess, but it's whats right, just like the way you know G.B should have kept Favre, its about class sometimes. Holt has none, i would love to see him go, maybe you could get a 2nd rounder for him!
Scott L. Jinks(SGJINKS) p.s I have officialy changed my 11 year old catch phrase from "THE RAMMY WHAMY IS BACK!(when we were winning), or THE RAMMY WHAMMY WILL BE BACK!(well, you know....), to "I DON'T WANT TO PLAY FOR COACH LINEHAN ANYMORE!,....WAAAAH!"
