Sportscenter has Emmitt Smith on every Sunday morning to talk about football; yes, he is by himself, but it's early enough where he can only do so much damage. While he's on, some anchor asks him questions posed by reader emails. How spicy! Not really, but it was kind of interesting to get his take when someone wrote in to ask how, paraphrasing, the trio of Tony Romo, Terrell Owens and Marion Barber compared to Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin.
After laughing a little bit and dogging the younger crew, Emmitt pointed out that:
Terrell Owens is not a true Cowboy.I think the whole "true" (see: A-Rod) business is overplayed. It's not like Emmitt was the first Cowboy to ever put on a uniform, even if he is the all time leading rusher and clearly one of the most popular Cowboys of all time.
That being said, three Super Bowls aside, there's at least some sort of argument for the Romo Trio in terms of individual talent. But because you can't actually toss away three Super Bowl victories, clearly the nod goes to the Aikman group. How-EVA, should Romo, Owens, et al grow up and win a playoff game or 15, they could certainly rub this stuff in Emmitt's face one day.

Emmitt has it right. TO is for TO not Dallas. It doesn't matter what uniform he wears he's always TO. Oh, he might cry for Romo but some of those tears were for him not getting the ball enough.

Emmit used to be humble, but now that he has a fairly good understanding of 4th grade grammar all he does is talk crap. He was a stud as long as he had the best team in history covering his ass. You see how good he was in the late 90's when the team was down and needed him most. Hershel Walker.....now that was a running back.

I think what Emmitt may have meant is that Aikman, Emmitt and Irvin were drafted and played pretty much only for the 'boys( yes I know Emmitt played for Ariz. once his career was basically over), whereas TO was drafted and played a good chunk of his career w/ other teams before becoming a cowboy.

I think Emmit's not a true cowboy, instead deciding to go to Arizona, he would have retired, if he was a true cowboy!!
And most of the other guys that helped him win those
Superbowls were not true cowboys, they came from other
teams also, I think once you retire, you should forfeit your
rights to talk about people that ARE STILL PLAYING!!!

Emmitt is right. If TO would stop worrying about TO he might catch the ball or run his route with 100%. He hurt us bad today against washington. He is definitely not a true Cowboy!!

Emmitt is not as great as he thinks he is! Im sick of him running his mouth and acting like he is the best to ever play! If he was a true Cowboy he would have retired rather then going to Arizona to get the rushing title he did not deserve! Put Barry Sanders or L.T. behind his line and they would have had many 2000 yard seasons! T.O. is a crybaby, but he is a player! And Romo has all the tools to be better then Aikman! Heck, i like T.O. more then Michael Irvin also! Sick of Emmitt Smith!

What a hoot! These comments show just how BOGUS you Cowpoke semi-fans are. You really don't have a clue! Owens will never change and now some of you are dissing Smith. The Niners and Eagles got rid of him and then he shows up on Jerry Jones doorstep. The Great American Tragedy for all you poor poke fans.

T.O has pissed off some people in here! You are right Derrick! I think he had the ball go his way like 20 times or something? He is a baby. a great player! But, a baby! Look it could be worse for you Cowboy fans! Im a Lions fan. Look how pathetic this team is! You guys will probably have Roy Williams on your team next year!? That guy is a true team guy! He should be getting the ball way more here! And he does not whine nearly as much as T.O! I still say the Cowboys go to the Superbowl this year!

It's all about the W's....If you win nothing else matters. Emmit was the man...Key emphasis on WAS...Romo, Barber, and Yes TO are the "men" now!!
For this Cowboy fan all that matters is winning...Superbowls are what count...Until this new TRIO produces, they are not in the same league as The original BIG 3.
No matter how many records you hopld...Just ask Dan Marino!!!

Easy boy.....there's a lot more to do in Texas than watch football. Our economy is booming. It's not our fault you live in a cold, dirty shit hole full of shut down factories and some 12 year old in China took your crappy job. Obama has a check for you, so be polite.
