Scott Linehan began this afternoon's game against the Bills with a career 11-24 record as an NFL head coach. He also began the game purportedly on the hot seat -- rumor was that if he lost the game, he would be fired.
So, now, we just wait. We wait for Linehan to be fired, and we wait for the rest of the world to realize that the Buffalo Bills are locked into the playoffs and are a legitimate contender. Maybe. Even if they're not the 2007 Patriots, they are overwhelmingly underrated.
Trent Edwards was again "quite solid", coming on strong with a long strike to Lee Evans late in the game and ending up with a 15/25, 197, 1/1 line. Marshawn Lynch wasn't even close to dominant, only picking up 57 yards on 19 carries, although his YPC average dipped significantly late in the game while the Bills tried to run clock. Fortunately -- or unfortunately, depending on your fantasy situation -- Fred Jackson was able to handle the end zone bid-ness, scoring on a 22 yard scramble.
For the Rams, though, Steven Jackson was his old self, scoring once en route to piling up 188 total yards from scrimmage (take that, Marshall). Which is why Trent Green's presence in the lineup is so puzzling; Marc Bulger is clearly the better quarterback and Green going 17 of 32 for 236 yards and a pick is something that Bulger could have replicated pretty easily.
On the other hand, maybe Linehan is just that type of guy. Meaning, he's totally willing to go out in utter flames with Green leading the charge. I, for one, want to go out with the same guy that helped me sink the ship. But whatever; it's unlikely Linehan will last past the Rams bye week.
Meanwhile, the Bills continue to be disrespected. Perhaps it's the cake-walk schedule, but they're still undefeated, and no amount of critical poo-pooing will change that. The fact remains that they only "at New York", "San Diego", "at Denver" and "at New England" that look remotely scary. Which is, in and of itself, quite scary.

Who hired this guy in the first place?
What a nice article and thank you for saying nice things about Buffalo Bills.I have been a fan since early 6-s thru thick and thin and always will be a fan.I live in Phoenix now and can't wait for the game next week here. All i can say is GO BILLS,nO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS I WILL ALWAYS BE A bILLS FAN.
The firings should not end with Linehan. The entire front office has to go. An offer needs to be made to a real football mind to take over the operation. Marty Schottenheimer, Bill Cower, or even Jimmy Johnson would work. Let's start rebuilding for next year. There was some hope today. And we are only out 2 games in the NFC West with the leaders being 2-2 and we only have one conference loss so far. This team has the talent and if the OL can deliver enough blocking for Steven Jackson to get 120 yards and 188 in total offense, there might be hope. Develop young talent. Go get some seasoned warriors; Archuleta, Lynch, Sapp to come out of retirement and lets see if we can get this thing going. With Hill hurt and Fakhir Brown gone, what are we going to do about cornerbacks? What a disaster to let that position go to such depths. Anyway, Linehan should be fired by now and we can go after Arizona after the bye with a new coaching staff, new attitude and new front office.
Its about time the Buffalo Bills finally get it together to get the recognition they deserve. I live in Buffalo and am tired of the Buffalo bashing. This is a young, talented team that can surprise and impress in the NFL. They really want to win, have the drive and know the meaning of the word teamwork. The Bills are definitely underrated this year. It seems like the NIFL overlooks their talent and never wants to give them any credit. Wake up! We have a great talent with Edwards, Lynch and Evans and by the end of the year the rest of the NFL will see that the Bills deserve another shot at the Superbowl. Forget the past several years. We struggled and took too damn long to make it click but finally I think we could be favorites if it comes down to the big game and of course if they dont lose their momentum. If they can keep it together like this, they could make it one of the most exciting superbowls and definitely give the other team a run for their money. Go Bills! Buffalo's talking proud!
Try living outside of NY and being a die hard Bills fan. You will catch grief from every angel. But there a few great fans scattered out here, and to them I raise a toaste to the best ahead......Rock it Bills
OMG - I watched the Bills win (AGAIN) yesterday and then I turned on Sunday Night Football for highlights and they showed one play from the game and moved on with the BIG story of the day................Favre putting up tons of points during the Jets game! I am so tired of the NFL putting so much emphasis on the Jets because they acquired Favre. Or on the Green Bay Packers because they don't have Favre! Get over it! The Bills and other teams in the NFL are doing amazing things and no one seems to care! Marshawn Lynch is going to be the next great running back in the NFL - but, he can't even get his name mentioned by Obermann or Costas on Sunday Night Football - ridiculous! Oh well, maybe it's best to be the underdog and take them by surprise! Hopefully, the Bills will do just that! Go BUFFALO!
