Man, what a great time to be a Rams fan. Easily the worst team in the NFL (with, as Matt Snyder wrote yesterday, "all apologies to the Lions"), St. Louis has now decided to give up on the 2008 season three weeks in, and bench Marc Bulger for Trent Green. Because it's 1999 up in here. Or something. Whatever, running back Steven Jackson wasted little time ripping "head coach" Scott Linehan for the move, and today we learn that perennial Pro Bowl wideout Torry Holt promptly apologized to Bulger upon hearing the news, like it was somehow his fault that Linehan sucks at his job.
"You know I was shocked, I was really shocked," Holt said. "First and foremost, I went up to Marc and I immediately apologized to him as a receiver and for our receiving group and for our offense for not making enough plays to give him an opportunity to stay on the football field with us as we move forward in the fourth week."Okay, Torry, let's talk about some of the positives...
Holt declined to comment on whether he thought Linehan had made the right decision in benching Bulger.
"I'll keep those thoughts to myself and just go ahead and move forward with what we have," Holt said. "Trent is the quarterback for Sunday, and we have (Leonard Little) back, so let's talk about some of the positives."
(hums) ...
(taps fingers) ...
I got nothing. I suppose the thought of Linehan not having a job for much longer is potentially good news, but even when he's gone, the Rams will still be the NFL laughingstock.
On the upside (and in the meantime) Linehan is focused on doing the job at hand: "Again, we are all in this together and we are trying to find solutions to what has not been a good start to the season with our record. To not sit here and make some hard decisions, I would not be doing my job..."
Yeah, whatever you say, Scott.

Wow, imagine if Holt was this supportive of Warner!, and didn't bitch, and whine with pal Isaac Bruce about warners ouster(only the guy that led them to two S.B's, one lost because of the PATS cheating)! Wow, imagine if Holt had this kind of character in 2003, we might still have our franchise qb(maybe we would not be much better, but it is something called class,....hmmm?, class, on this team, in this organization????, i must be crazy!), and the guy(Warner) I think is the all time greatest RAM(after a 50 year drout of a Championship for this franchise, this man leads them to one championship, and surely a second if not for foul play!)2nd) Van Brocklin3)Wade4)Deacon Jones(if recorded they sacks(heck, he actually invented the name "sack"!) then he would have records for most all time, and in most in a season both! 5)JACK YOUNGBLOOD"just for being an example of a man", we could use one on our team right now. Don't get me wrong, I can't bash a team for losing, you know, get upset, yeah, but not just for losing, in a real nasty way, but whining, and bitching, and backstabbing, I can't stand that crap! Hey, i would rather have Tony Banks, and Robert Holcombe, and Jessie Hester, then Bulger, Holt, and Jackson, one of the early to mid 90's teams over these guys, even over the RAMS that went 12-4, and 8-8, and won the W.C game, because they weren't people of bad character, whiners, backstabbers, babies, byatches. Scott L. Jinks(SGJINKS) p.s I have oficially changed my 11 year catch frase of "THE RAMMY WHAMMY IS BACK" to "I don't want to play for Scott Linehan Anymore,....WAAAAAH!"
