The Scott Linehan era in St. Louis is rapidly becoming one of the biggest disasters in NFL history. After starting 4-1, his Rams have gone 7-23 ... including 3-16 in the past two seasons and three embarrassing defeats this year. Earlier this week, in clearly a desperate measure, Linehan removed starting QB Marc Bulger and replaced him with Trent Green. Apparently, with Steven Jackson as the mouthpiece, we may be a few steps from a full-fledged mutiny.
(O)utspoken running back Steven Jackson took care of that Thursday night on his "Rolling the Dice" radio show on KLOU (103.3 FM). Jackson said benching Bulger was the "wrong decision."It gets better, though ...
"He's our general," said Jackson, who then pointed out that you don't pay someone "$60-something million" and then sit him on the bench.
When asked by the radio show's host, Malcolm Briggs, if there were other Rams players who were against the benching, Jackson paused and replied, "I'm not the only one who feels this way."Oh, still better ...
Jackson intimated strongly that Bulger would be unwilling to (return to the starting lineup).Wow. Just wow.
Team sources did in fact tell the Post-Dispatch on Thursday that Bulger no longer wants to play for coach Scott Linehan. Bulger has declined comment for three consecutive days since his benching became public knowledge.
So let's sort this out. The Rams are a laughingstock, easily qualifying as the worst team in football after three games (with all due respect to the Lions). Scott Linehan decides to bench a quarterback who really wasn't the main problem -- getting dominated on both lines is -- and now the entire team is pissed.
I don't think this has ever happened, but can you imagine if Bulger declines to enter the game should Linehan call upon him?
I'm usually not one to state that owners should allow the players to run the team. In light of everything that's gone on this season along with the happenings of this week, the Rams must fire Linehan after this week and give their new (probably interim) head coach two weeks to prepare for his first game. The Rams have a bye next week.
Otherwise this has the potential to get even uglier than the Oakland situation.

Can anyone in St. Louis say Marty ball? Come up with the big bucks and again the Rams could be the greatest show on turf!
Shottinhiemer would strengthen the team like no one else. He always ended up with great offensive and defensive lines. Step up and do the right thing.

Rich,
Shawtinnhyeimehr would strengthen the team like no one else? Are you serious? What, is he a maniac in the weight room?
I'm sure all the previous Marty ball teams really miss him. Great offensive and defensive lines. Tremendous record of playoff success as well.
Greatest show on turf? You're posting on the site of the Greatest Show on Earth.

Oh this is rich!, the poor little buttercup Bulger, his feelings were hurt....WAAAAH! Oh sure, we have not had a winning season since 2003, yet it's never poor Marc Bulgers fault, it's the line, the coach, the weird looking fan that's allways heckling him at the Jones Dome, something, anything but Bulger just not being a winner. But he sure is a whiner. This is why Jeff George jr. can't win, he does have talent, I can't fool anyone, or least of all lie too myself, but he is a bad character guy. Years ago he got Kurt Warners job because Martz was having a fued with Brenda Warner, combined with the slight chance(this is my opinion, not fact) that Martz, and teammates blamed Warner for the S.B loss, we now know the PATS cheated, and played dirty on D", so Warner is blameless. Linehan , I feel bad for him, the minute I saw Bulger on highlights rolling his eyes when I was talking to him, I would right then and there have looked for a different direction at qb during the offseason(I just don't think Coah Linehan(the goat in this debacle) has that type of power, even if he wanted to get rid of this team cancer, or punk Holt).
Funny, I remember Pete Carol talking with the RAMS right before they hired Vermeil. He wanted total power over everything, and Shaw balked. I realize now these coaches sound egocentric when they want to be president, GM, and head coach, but looking at Carol with USC, one wonders if he had little control over football operations with the Jets, and Pats(I just don't have this info to be honest) , a coach gets fired in the long run and in most cases did not even put the team he's getting fired for on the field. Bulgers really whining and pouting, forget him, if Green gets hurt, or is inefective put in Berlin, or Gradkowski. Jackson, he should just shut up, and play football, his ridiculous selfish holdout after a 3-13 campaign is hurting the team far more than any Linehan decision.
Oh whiney Bulgers antics are just perfect, he is just who I thought he was(Wow sounded like Dennis Green for a minute!), Maybe Trent Green should have the coaches assign a player to keep Bulger away from him during games, ha, ha(remeber this is what buttercup did during the Warner days)all kidding aside, he(Bulger) will pout like a little B'yatch on the bench, it's him.
I just hope the team has enough character to rally around the likable good guy Trent Green, give him a chance, he knows Saunders O", he has a chemistry with Holt, Kennison, and the human joystick, and he's a former pro bowl qb. I beleive unlike Bulger, Jackson, and Holt, there has to be men of good character on this football team, oh yeah, please change to a 3-4, why draft a man 2nd over all, and have him hands in the dirt head to head with 6-6"- 6-7" 300+ lb monsters(a 6-3", 263 lb man), when you could have him as a huge pass rushing OLB???? Linehan, there talking about firing you, and putting in an intern, I think YOU may have to think about taking over the D", has HASLETT lost his mind?
We have a chance in Buffalo, I hope our guys still believe in themselves, if Green could just manage the ball a little, give the D" a break, complete an actual pass on third down, maybe even our selfless hero Steve Jackson can get a few more carries. GO RAMS!, I don't care what anyone thinks!.......THE RAMMY WHAMMY WILL BE BACK SUNDAY! Scott L. Jinks(SGJINKS)
p.s Everybody give poor Marc an "AWE!", POOR BAY!", he does'nt want to play for coach Linehan anymore!, imagine YOUNGBLOOD reading this! he played with a broken leg in the S.B, Bulger could'nt play with his broken trust issues, ....he's hurt, I feel bad for him,....HAR, HAR, HAR, man, I have been laughing all day about this unmanly artice, it's a laugh riot!, anyway, (seriously)GO RAMS!

"I'm usually not one to state that owners should allow players to run the team."
Then why start saying it now?
Players are payed to play...so play. Owners should just write the checks and run the business and quit thinking they understand X's and O's.
The coach is the boss on the field. The players and the owner should know that and respect it.

JRH,
O.k, if I'm going to get a little nasty, and talk about someone, anyone in a negative way, I'm going to have to take stuff like "go eat a fat one", fine. I remember the days when SAINT, and NINER fans would be telling me off, not fellow RAM fans, oh well. I feel bad when I vent, later on, but really JHR, I did not create all this nastyness, or provoke these selfish acts. The things I read about Bulger did not surprise me. But tell me, what qb ever could have 4 straight seasons withought a winning season, and never get benched?, or get any heat? And Jackson, an immense talent, huge, but he's demonstrated some pretty poor character recently. I'm excited about Green getting a shot, we all must rally around him, you and me, especially the team though. I think he can do it, it's going to be rough, but maybe some things will click. Saunders had to ease Jackson in, or maybe we would have lost the big man for the whole season, than were really screwed. I hope jackson grows up a little as the years pass., Bulger, he's in his 30's allready, and still not a very good guy, is it even about growing up at this point? Well, I slammed him enough today, LETS GO RAMS!(seriously), DON'T QUIT, were not playing the 85" BEARS,or 70's STEELERS sunday, don't sike yourselves out! (SCOTT)SGJINKS

JRH,
O.k, when I get like that, saying negative things about people, anyone, I'm going to have to expect a "go eat a fat one"....fine.
But remember JRH, I did'nt create all this nastyness from science fiction, Bulger has acted like this in the past, his recent behavior does not surprise me, has anyone ever heard of a qb saying he won't play for a certain coach anymore, it's outrageous, like a kid throwing a tantrum. And Jackson, he is a huge talent, but as we see, no matter how dire the straights, Saunders had to play him spairingly, think about it, how about we lose him for the whole season!, then were really screwed!!!! So his selfishness, and greedyness has helped "greatly' to burry us int this 0-3 hole, and it's like he's trying to devert the attention from himself, talking about a bunch of crap on a radio show about Linehans decision, blah, blah, he just needs to shut up, and "GO TO WORK", as we used to say. Again JRH, it is what it is, not much to do with me.
Wow it seems like just the other day, I was getting told off by NINER fans, and SAINT fans, stuff like that, seems like just the other day. Wish it was like the old days again, but for years now RAMS fans bash each other on all these blogs, and boards, it's like the nastiness of Martz(still), and guys like Bulger have infected the team, and even the fans too! That Martz was a nasty human being boy. Well, to some things up, we may not agree on everything, but we still have to rally around our guy this weekend, both of us, that's for sure. Hope the team does, Green is a cool guy from what ive read about him through the years, and a good team guy, I hope they try there best for this guy, not worrying about if the coaches decision is right or not,.... just play the game, give this guy a chance!, he's a pro bowl qb for Pete's sake!!, and he and Saunders had the number #1 O" out there in K.C more than once together!. They(THE RAMS players) also can't start turning this Bills team into the 85" BEARS, or 70's STEELERS, not just yet, we can't sike ourselves out, lose before we even step on the field, I think we got a chance in this game, I really do(I think the Bills underestamating us could factor in as posative). GO RAMS! Scott L. Jinks(SGJINKS) "THE RAMMY WHAMMY WILL BE BACK!" p.s I got some friends,.... I think?

It figures. The guy who was going to hold out unless he got a fat new contract (Steven Jackson) now is the mouthpiece for the team and appears to be the leader of this so called "mutiny". Just another example of a upper echelon sports figure doing exactly what he wants to do and fans and media folk just bow down to the assholes and in 3 to 6 months, all will be forgotten and he will be a hero again.

But seriously. Stop. You're talking more than jackson.
And if Bulger hears "you're in" I'll bet you 60 million reasons why he runs right in.
Just face it. Rams suck

Okay, I'm not a Bulger fan, never have been. Forget his QB rating is better than payton manning's. Whatever. Linehan, or how ever you spell it, sucks! Trent Green couldn't cut it years ago, he's a second string never was, let's put out the garbage, and start rebuilding. I don't care who we find and put in as coach, but we gotta give the guy some time to build. Two, three seasons and back on the street, then try somthing new! That ain't working no matter who is in charge. Find somebody good, and back them! I think Trent Green has a great career as a third string waterboy in the NFL Europe's semi-pro league, Linehan might make it as a Pop Warner popcorn vendor if he's lucky, so let's move on. We need to stop droppin guys like Bruce, and build on existing talent! If Bulger was worth a $65 mil. contract, then quit screwin with him and fix the real problems!

IN MOURNING I love my Rams good or bad but i just watched the bills rams game and hope that Linehan is gone by monday. Back in the day, if a player didn't peform he was out of there. These guys get paid big money to play, this is not college ball don't coddle these guys, or make it fun, it is a job if you don't do a job well long enough you are gone. #70 shouldn't even be on the field period. How many false starts does he have? Basics. We need a Jeff Fisher or Groudan or Marucci. I love my rams and will go down with the ship, but damn, throw me a life preserver at least.
