Earlier this week, J.J. Cooper mentioned how former Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Bill Cowher had no desire to return to the sidelines of an NFL team anytime soon. That, of course, hasn't stopped rumors from circulating, especially since he may have purchased a home in Strongsville, Ohio. From Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk:
Apparently, plenty of folks in Cleveland have heard that former Steelers coach Bill Cowher has bought a home in Strongsville, Ohio.If you're not familiar with Strongsville, Ohio -- and I'm guessing you're not -- it is located roughly 20 miles south of downtown Cleveland. Estimated driving time: 24 minutes. Cleveland, by the way, is home to the Cleveland Browns, an NFL franchise that has qualified for the post-season once since 1999, and is currently off to a disappointing start at 0-3. Which means a coaching change could be in the franchise's not-to-distant future. Naturally, once you put two and two together ... you get a rumor. It's creating a buzz on the Internet, and for good reason. Cowher's purchase of a North Carolina home in early 2006 fueled rumors that he would be leaving the Steelers
After the 2006 season, he did.
It probably means nothing -- I'm sure it means nothing -- but it's somewhat interesting that Cowher, a guy who could purchase a home anywhere he wanted, has chosen Strongsville, Ohio. Assuming he really did purchase a home in Strongsville, Ohio. Rumors are fun.

Someone should remind Florio that the speculation was he'd leave the steelers to coach NC State. Which clearly didn't happen.

LALALALALA - I can't hear you! Just let us hope, for the love of Jeff.
Of course, even if Cowher isn't coming, anyone would be an improvement over Crennel.

Right on TR.
It should be noted that he played for the Browns and started his coaching career at age 28 under Marty Schottenheimer with the Browns. He was the Browns' special teams coach in 1985-86 and secondary coach in 1987-88 before following Schottenheimer to the Kansas City Chiefs in 1989 as defensive coordinator.

You might ALSO Wanna mention that Bill Cower was Born and Bred in PITTSBURGH. I imagine if a person cares not that his family and friends of the vast majority of his life are going to pretty much despise him. Then a person might just jump ship to the dark side. Interesting on multiple levels.

It is very true that Cowher is a great coach and has strong ties to the Browns (but not this team, the previous one now known as the Ravens).
Also true that in the monumental losing atmosphere that is Cleveland, Cowher plus Noll plus the ghosts of Lombardi and Halas would be lucky to break .500
The Browns are the carp in the swamp of bottom feeders in the NFL, and Cowher cannot change that

What ties to the Ravens are you talking about? Cleveland kept its name, its colors, and its storied history of Otto Graham and Jim Brown. The Ravens are just a new team in the league in a city that could not sack up and demand what was rightly theirs like their name, colors, and Johnny U.

They lost out on the playoffs last year by losing to the Bengals, Raiders, and Cardinals. You are never going to make the playoffs losing to those 3 "powerhouses" in any year. Why they think Anderson, who was given this ludicrous contract for nothing, is an NFL QB worth a nickel is crazy. What are they watching. The team for 3 years in a row has not been ready on opening day, they get buried. They play scared to lose just knowing something is going to go wrong. They have no chance this year and the season is all of 3 weeks old,,,pathetic. You drafted Quinn high and he sits. Get him in there and get a linebacker in a trade for Anderson while he is at least worth a penny. Then get the guy from USC as another linebacker in the draft, your going to get the top 4 in the draft with your schedule anyway. Do something right once. Go out and get a defense, it IS what wins championships, do they even remember that there in Cleveland. How can they be so bad, year after year. ZERO leadership on that team or upstairs in the office. Just a step behind the Lions.

It should also be noted that Strongsville borders Berea, Ohio. Berea is where the Browns training camp is located. It is a 10 minute drive from the supposed house Cowher purchased. Many Browns live in Strongsville, in fact I grew up in Strongsville and still reside there today. Andre Davis lives a few houses down form me. This would be a great story if Cowher comes to Cleveland

One can only hope that we Ohioans could get a coach or a team that could maybe win a championship!! It is a shame that we get our hopes up every year and get smashed at every sport known to man!
