My fellow Lions fans, our long local nightmare is over.Detroit Lions President, General Manager and all-around incompetent executive Matt Millen is no longer running the team into the ground. Jay Glazer reports:
FOXSports.com has learned that the Lions have finally removed team president and GM Matt Millen from his post, unseating one of the most criticized executives in Detroit sports history.Millen is the worst general manager in NFL history, and there is no close second. The Lions were a 9-7 team when he took them over after the 2000 season, and they've gone 31-84 since then. Thank you, Bill Ford Jr.Millen was informed of the move last night during a late-night high-level meeting. This morning several people within the building confirmed that he had large packing boxes in his office and he made his way around to different employees telling them of the move.
It is unclear if Millen was fired or removed himself from the equation but the news comes just days after Bill Ford, Jr. publicly stated he would have fired the GM if it was his decision but he lacked the authority to do so.

Congratulations MDS! I've never rooted for the Lions in my life but I'm thrilled that this happened. Hopefully they make the right hire and can turn things around.

Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.
Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. He's gone where the goblins go,
Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.
Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.
Let them know
The Wicked Witch is dead!

FINALLY! Perhaps now the team can go about becoming a team. I have nothing against Millen, other than the fact that he simply couldn't get it done. Now the Lions can move forward.

This was a long overdue move, and its a bit sad that it took a Bill Jr. media outburst to make it happen.
Any rumors as to a possible replacement? Will they hire someone during the season or just wait until the off-season?

For your information, Barry Sanders had already retired when Millen arrived. You can blame him for ruining the Lions, for his lousy draft picks and coaching choices, for his horrible record as the worst GM in NFL history...but Barry Sander's retirement was because of Bobby Ross! I hate Millen, but you can't blame him for everything!

Ok Millen is gone. The NFL's new Public Enemy number 1 is Al Davis. Does Ford Jr. have authority in the Raiders organization?

well, as if it hasnt been said enough...ITS ABOUT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!....millen was awful as a GM...however, it seems 2 be 1 of the hardest jobs in the world...think about it..theres 32 GM jobs in the world,& only about half are filled by some1 doing a decent job...but hey lions fans, it could be worse...dallas has an owner (that cant be fired) that thinks he can be a GM..(granted he is better than millen)..hopefully the fords will take time & get some1 competent...lord knows yall deserve it...

Man I'm running to be the next GM...and I know what the Lions need. First we need to fix the offensive line then we need to draft a Quarterback. RB's n WR's are good..for now. Then we need to fix the Defensive line and draft linebackers that could shadow as Defensive Ends. They need to stop the run and we'll work on the secondary last. And oh the Lions need a new look or new uniforms.

Now that Matt's a free agent, maybe another team will pick him up as a back-up GM.

All you Lion's fans want to blame Matt for the team's lousy performance, but what about you jerks who still support Bush and his lousy performance.
