Heading into Monday Night's contest between the New York Jets and San Diego Chargers, ESPN's Tony Kornheiser made no apologies for the fact he was going to talk about Brett Favre, because, well, he loves Brett Favre. In case you missed the live chat (where were you?) I decided to take it upon myself to keep track of how many times Kornheiser referenced Favre by name. I did this because, well, I was curious, and because I have an alarmingly large amount of spare time.
The final tally for Kornheiser: 22 references to Favre. On the surface, that doesn't seem like all that many over the course of a 60-minute football game. When you consider he referenced all other players in the game, by name, a total of only 11 times, it's hilarious
In related news, the crew referenced the fact Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers had a Brett Favre poster on his wall growing up six times. Ron Jaworski reminded us that the Jets offense is "a work in progress" three times, and he referred to one pass by Brett Favre as, "almost Favre-like."
Hey, I do it for the people.

Apparently Fanhouse moderators must love Kornheiser too because they would not post my last remark about him. So how is that keeping my post relevant to this blog?

PLEASE, Mr. Kornheiser, Brett Favre is a nice guy, but enough is enouogh. Can anyone imagine how vasatly improved the MNF broadcast would be were Tony Kornheiser not involved? The poor guy is just not fit for the job. He should be on a mornning TV talk show with the ladies. He could gab and gossip on any subject; and, he would not destroy the enjoyment of football fans who are expecting ESPN to provide constructive analysis and commentary. So, please Mr. Kornheiser, return to your newspaper doings and let football fans enjoy the games. Way to go AOL!

Tony obviously has terminal "Howard Cosell Syndrome" which is fatal to a TV or radio career and is identified by progressively knowing less and less about the sport you are talking about and terminally in love with the sound of your own voice by making inane remarks until you either make a career ending social blunder or simply bore the audience to death.

What is Tony Kornholer doing on Monday Night Football?
How did that idiot, blowhard even get considerd for the job?
Whoever hired him needs to be fired right after they can Kornholer.
And I thought Dennis Miller was a joke...please. Maybe Ron Jaworski will smack Kornholer upside his head to shut his trap.
Did he EVER play football, excluding the powder puff game against the Pop Warner league cheerleaders?

My number one team has never been the Greeen Bay Packers. I don't live in that area and I support the team in my area. But... Favre has always been a favorite of mine. A favorite of a lot of fans that were not GB fans. I would much rather be a fan of his than some one who is cocky and self centered such as the wonderful (whatever..)lets say "Out for the season Brat Brady".....Favre is a player that will never be forgotten and will always be respected for the right reasons.
