The Oakland Raiders are expected to fire head coach Lane Kiffin today, bringing to an end Kiffin's tenure as coach after 19 games and a 5-14 record. The news that the day of Kiffin's firing is finally here -- first reported by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports -- brings to an end months of speculation about just how long Kiffin would stay. It's long been clear that Raiders owner Al Davis isn't confident in Kiffin, and that Kiffin doesn't want to be there.
There is no news yet on who the Raiders' interim head coach will be, but the names of wide receivers coach James Lofton, running backs coach Tom Rathman and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan have all been mentioned.

I'm through with the whole raider organization. As long as Al Davis is still the owner, I will not support the raiders any longer.
Gruden left the raiders for a reason. So learn from it. I'm selling all my raiders stuff and also my Raider Hummer H3. Anyone interested let me know.

All the men who have tried to coach that team are smart, football-men, professionals, but every single fan knows, that that team ownership is so out of date, focus, too much meddling power, that you are hamstrung, messed up on your first day... I am glad Kiffin stayed, let Davis pay him to leave and collect all that money for being lied to...The Raiders have a losing mentality with every single player, person, in their buildings in Oakland. people cruise through and just collect checks and yet, the stupid fans, keep going...

Now wait one cotton picken minute! yeah the front office might be a bit out of touch and the style of play is '80s-ish but the fan base is strong and we will continue to back this team! I say As Davis is the weakest link "good bye". In order for the Raiders to be back on top it has to start there. Sell the team sell sell sell!

Al Davis is right on regarding Kiffin. I for one, will not back anybody who has a record of 5-14. You have got to go.
Kiffin couldn't get this offense to gel. He treated Russell like he has never played football before. He needed to let the kid manage and play the game. 3 passes in a half is unacceptable. Also the way Lane managed games was terrible.
I for one can't wait for the new coach. It will be a breath of fresh air

J Russ is a BUST. Less than 50% completion is unacceptable. His last 2 games have stunk. Check his stats, then read my comments and see if you agree. Coach Kiffen has no choice but to go to his running backs for any success. We already lost Justin Fargas.
Lets not be so quick to blame Coach Kiffen if we don't know what goes on behind the scenes.

A BUST? This young man plays on the worst team in the NFL and he has a couple games under his belt. The verdict is not out. Now GTFO!

I'm 68 years old now and I've been a Raider fan since they first entered the AFL. I've seen the lean years and the glory years. I will continue supporting them forever til I die.
It's hard to put your finger on a single problem.
The Raiders have the talent. Teams with lesser talent have been more successful
in recent years.
The defense and special teams have improved a little. Raiders have the receivers and the running backs. Is it the game plan? Is it the coaches? Is it the players (attitude and discipline).
In my opinion, I think J Russ as QB has not lived up to expectations. He cannot hit his targets. He cannot read defenses. he cannot scramble effectively. He has a strong arm but why zip the ball in at 100 mph at a distance of 10-15 yards? Last but not least, why is it that a man of his size and strength does it only take one man to bring him down?
I would suggest using Tuiasopopo as a starting QB and mix up the offensive game plan. Do not rely on our backs to carry the team. Don't be predictable.
Lets not blame Kiffen or Al Davis for everything.

Tuiasopopo? You fail at life.
JR is the real deal - the receivers, line and coaches are awful.

I agree with Willie, as long as Al Davis is calling the shots, I am through supporting this circus of an organization. Anyone Mr. Davis brings in to replace Kiffin will just be another puppet. Why do you think all the high profile coaches refuse to interview in the first place. Just more of the same in Raiderland, and I for one am through with the chaos.

First on the game, it was obvious to me they were working the left cornerback D'Angelo Hall. How much did we pay for him? Second, the problem with the Raiders is the Organization in the Front Office. Turmoil seems to be the key word for the past 4 years. We need strong leadership and it is obviously lacking with the Raiders. Get a strong Vice President of Operations and let him run the team without interference. Is that possible???

at least he won a game and kept it close this season...want to fire someone come here to detroit and fire these losers in the Lions front office, as usual we are the laughing stock of the nfl and Jay Leno jokes...down 20-0 and still run the ball for 1yd at a time and sit in the huddle 40 secs as if there're leading

Which organization is more screwed up, the Raiders or the Lions? Both have ownership issues. One changes coaches like people change their socks. The other displays loyalty to employees based on some magical invisible job performance measure that normal humans can't quite see. It's wierd one owner creates massive instability that leads to an unhealthy attitude in the organization that translates to poor performance. The other creates stability for people who haven't performed, that leads to an unhealthy attitude, that perpetuates more of the same poor performance. Moral of the story, the fish stinks from the head. . .

Who ever thinks Kiffin is the problem is crazy and doesn't know football. The kid is going to be a great coach somewhere and I will be sad to see him go. The defense is what needs to be fixed. Kiffin stays and Ryan needs to get a one way ticket out of town. He is so afraid to gamble it makes us weak. Teams are killing us in atwo minute drill scenario. We back so far off we are letting teams come back. Maybe De'Angelo Hall can carry Ryan's bags to the airport and get on the same plane cause he sucks too.
