Did you ever get the idea that Al Davis has a really hard time making up his mind? Or that he just likes to remind everyone that he is the one in charge and calling all the shots? After initial reports this morning that Lane Kiffin's dismissal was imminent, Adam Schefter of NFL.com passes along the information that Kiffin won't be fired today. Despite the rampant speculation, Lane Kiffin will not be fired Monday, a Raiders source confirmed. "There's nothing happening today," said one Raiders source. "It ain't happening."So it's not happening today. That doesn't mean it won't happen tomorrow, or Wednesday, or Saturday, or Sunday during the first quarter, or next week, or four Tuesday's from tomorrow ... you get the idea. It's still a matter of when, and not if. And if Kiffin had to deal with the speculation of him losing his job after a win on the road, it's hard to imagine he would make it through Sunday's come-from-ahead loss at the hands of the Buffalo Bills.
Still, knowing what we know about Davis -- we know that he's crazy -- it's hard to guess as to what he has planned, and when he's planning on going through with it.
Of course, here's another train of thought. Perhaps Davis knows that Kiffin wants out of Oakland as much as Davis wants him out, and since Davis' goal is to, obviously, make his coaches life miserable, perhaps he's going to keep Kiffin on the job just to spite him. Yeah. That's it.
Yeah, I definitely made that up, but it's definitely possible. I think. I mean, he is crazy enough to do that, right?

The defensive coach Ryan is the one who should be fired. 9 points ahead with 6 minutes to go and you lose. Also week one was a joke on defense.

Or he's just hoping to make it so uncomfortable that a sane person simply can't take it anymore. How long can Kiffin (who seems reasonably sane) take a situation like this?

Yes Al is a has been and the NFL should force him out of control. On the other hand I cannot blame him as he has to pay Lane one way or the other.

Buffalo did not win the game---The raiders lost it bedause Ryan and his conservative defense, At one point, you could see Kiffins disappointment as to what was happening. He couldn't say or do anything about it because Al Davis cannot see the gold mine Kiffin can be for football and the Raiders.

i agree! let the coach, coach! i'm a calie transplant to mo., there's many of us here and i'm glad to say we have braggin rights over kc,it's unfortunate that the raiders only get negative coverage on the national news.we're so much better than that ! we need a gm thats not related to AL that will back the coach. RAIDER NATION ROCKS

Davis is a control freak, but you need to give him crdit for what he has done for the NFL. The problem is coaching. When you have a coaching staff that bumps heads with the head coach you get rid of that or those that are doing the bumping. Maybe we need to get rid of Russell, who has a problem with making a complete pass, 3 field goals which should have been touchdowns is pathetic.

Kiffin shows very little emotion. Nothing seems to excite him. I think he intentionally failed to use his 2 timeouts at the end to really fire up Davis. He wants to be fired and "pick up" the rest of his 4 million from Al. Then it's back to USC, the only "pro" team in LA

THE PROBLEM IS THAT OLD MAN AL DAVIS WANT LET A COACH THEY THERE LOMG ENOUGH TO PUT A SYSTEM IN. YOU CANT COME IN THE FIRST YEAR AND MAKE A TEAM A PLAYOFF TEAM UNTIL U HAVE TIME TO LEARN ALL THE TEAM.ONE YEAR IS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO DEVELOP A SYSTEM. YOU NEED AT LEAST FIVE YEARS AND NO COACH IN OAKLAND HAVE STAYED OVER 2 1/2 YEARS, AL NEED TO SIT HIS OLD SELF DOWN AND LET THE TEAM FIND A YOUNG GM WITH NEW IDEAS LIKE MYSELF AND WE CAN MAKE OAKLAND A GOOD TEAM
