Yesterday we noted that Washington Redskins executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato has taken a side job hosting a show on the Washington radio station ESPN 980, which is owned by Redskins owner Daniel Snyder. This morning Cerrato is on the air (listen here), and for the most part it sounds like your typical sports talk radio show. Cerrato gave his opinions about the Redskins, saying of quarterback Jason Campbell, "I think we saw him come of age" in the Redskins' Week 2 win over the Saints. And then an interesting subject came up: The feud between Redskins running back Clinton Portis and former Redskins running back Brian Mitchell, who had a heated argument on the station earlier this week.
"What frustrates Clinton is that Brian Mitchell is always on Clinton," Cerrato said. "I am totally on Clinton's side on this one."
And then the most interesting comment came from co-host George Michael: "That's living proof that Dan Snyder doesn't control 980," Michael said.
Snyder, of course, does control 980, but he's apparently willing to allow opposing viewpoints to be heard, including critical comments about his players and his team executives. I respect Snyder for that. Even though I still think Cerrato would be wise to spend his time running the team, not talking about the team.

I totally disagree with Vinny but that's why the team is in the shambles it's in..because of Vinny. All professional atheletes have to deal with sports analysts and the commendt that come with the shows. It was how Clinton Portis choose to handle the situation.
He is suppose to be professional and sounded like an uneducated thug! Inviting Brian Mitchell to a fight because of comments? common...Clinton is a college graduate, a grown man not a high school student! Thing is, would Clinton, does Clinton take that stance with other anaylsts that would have criticisim for him? I thought Clinton's responses were completely embarrasing and on the other note, I like the way Brian Mitchell tells it like it is! If critisizim is due then fire away!

first of all, Clinton Portis is not a college grad. I would bet in the TWO years at the "u' as a football player, he has minumum credits towards a degree. If he had forty credits, I would be shocked. the other point is Brian Mitchell is a hater. He has remained bitter toward the Redskins for being released and it's management makes it a easy target for his bitterness. Having said that, as big as thug as Clinton acts, I would take the british bull dog(mitchel) in that bout. He only has more total yards then anyone in NFL history(other then Jerry Rice) and he got that by being a hard nosed player who would love to play any one of those plays that clint so easily blows off in between carries. Give me the guy who would give his left nut to play again as opposed to the guy who takes himself out ten times a game
