It's good to see Joey Porter hasn't lost his ability to smack-talk opponents. Actually, at this point, I think it's the only ability he hasn't lost. Probably because that's the one aspect of his game that doesn't have to worry about being blocked one-on-one by running backs and tight ends. Either way, this week Porter has chosen Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel as his target (or as he calls it, his "huckleberry"), and I suppose that's a step up from the kickers and punters he was going after the first two weeks of the season.
Of course, I think it would be far more entertaining for all of us if he chose a guy that might actually respond. Someone like Rodney Harrison or Randy Moss, but, whatever. On to the smack.
"it'll be good to go out and get our first victory. I just know [Cassel] is not a Tom Brady,'' said Porter, when asked how difficult it will be to prepare for a quarterback he has never seen."If it's not Tom Brady, it shouldn't be that hard. . . . They won last week, but it's not like they were putting up the crazy 40 points they were when they had Tom.
"So, it's a different offense, it's a different team without Tom there. I don't care what anybody says. It's not the same team without Brady.''
On one hand, Porter is absolutely correct. Matt Cassel is not Tom Brady, and since he's not Tom Brady it's true the Patriots aren't going to put up "the crazy 40 points they were when they had Tom." *
*They haven't played the Dolphins yet, so they still could put up 40 points.

He just doesn't know when to shut up. Of course he won't go after someone who will respond. Or who will throw a serious lick on him in retaliation. He can't even get into a fight without sucker punching someone (Vegas) and he knows he's got them out numbered as well.
Joey... We're not in Pittsburgh anymore.....

When will people learn? You don't smack talk the Patriots. Come on. I know it's not the super power Patriots of last season, but learn your lesson and keep your sorry excuse for a football player mouth shut. You stink. Your team stinks and you will be 0-3 on Monday morning.

welcome to the NFL matt.
keep cool and win the game..it will be interesting to see how he responds,,if he steps up and plays well and shuts the fish up, that will be huge confidence builder for the rest of the season,,if he lets it get to his head, and he cracks,,,belichik will pull him fast,,belichik is smart enough to coach matt through that,,,,im sure matt and randy have been working together this week so look for a few long passes...this should be a break out game for Matt....

I am a lifelong Dolphins fan and I think that Porter needs to shut the hell up. He hasn't really done anything since the phin's signed him. beside's the fact, that the Patriot's till have a ton of weapons even without brady in at quarterback.

Its amazing how a players words can be taken out of context...I'm neither a Porter fan or a Pat's fan , but ,Matt Cassel is not going to put up nearly the skill or experience of a Brady...HOW is this a Slam??? It's , as Ive said before , confirmation that most reporters and bloggers who have never played sports at a colege or professional level make the most assanine statements proving/confirming their ignorance

What a genious...he just knows Matt Cassel is not Tom Brady...ahhh duh? I think he forgets that prior to last season, the Patriots were not putting up mad numbers. They know how to fight and claw for a win. All of their SB wins were hard fought. That being said it will be tough for them this year without Tom, but they still don't need Brady to beat Miami! The Jets seem better than the Dolphins and the Patriots looked like they were in control of that game.

Joey is an idiot, but I do want to thank him for lighting the Pats up. not that they won't always do the best job they can, but some added incentive is nice.

Poor Joey...it's really the only way he can get in the papers nowadays because his play certainly isn't newsworthy...unless the story is to bash him, then there's plenty to write about.
Cassel is not Brady, we all know that. However, we also know that Brady wasn't the New England Patriots, just one big component.
Cassel at this stage is very much like Brady was in 2001, but with more experience. Belly took it easy with Brady coming off the bench in 2001, using a lot of dink and dunk passes and a strong running game.
Miami is still Miami, and Joey Porter cannot begin to fill the void left by perennial Brady-Crusher, Jason Taylor. Joey won't be eating dinner Sunday after feasting on his words for three hours.

Hey Joey, glad you learned how to read the back of the jersey.Thank you for educating me on the fact that Matt is no Tom Brady I wouldn't have guessed otherwise seening as though last year and this year we are 2-0 and your Miami Dolphins are ummm 0-2, and that your ass still can't back up your mouth. I really didn't think anything changed from year over year. Thanks Joey, I can sleep much better tonight knowing you can read!

He called it (Joey Porter) then he went out and did it. Thats a man who sticks by his word. Thats a guy who you want on your side. I don't know why we (Pittsburgh) ever got rid of him.

Wow, I guess Joey Porter did deliver. Sorry for the spanking, Pat fans, but how does it feel to eat all those smack-talkin words from the previous posts? It wasn't even a close game, just straight embarrassing for you. Enjoy the bye week, Pat fans, and I suggest you all speak with a grief counselor after that beating...gosh, nobody should feel that terrible, really.
Dolphin fan for life!

All Pat's fan's. How you like it now ,that you yes you thePat's got an ass kicking like not seen in how many years ? well any way all the pressure is on Cassel that is only good for 2 TD's if that and the field points to add so any team that plat's them have to look at a 2 TD game out of Cassel. He is vinished . Did he ever start ? I thnk it was a great game to watch all that power from Ricky williams & Ronnie Brown, WOW with them both in the back field nobody know's what to do or who will run the ball great confussion in the runing game GO DOLPHINS soon to be 2-2, 3-2, and so on the Dolphins will dominate the AFC this year sounds crazy but look at the youth on that team as all the other teams have vets. Dolphins have taken care of that last season ending that and yes they did get rid of Jason,Zack but that's by there request because they want a shot of a S.B ring, do you blame them ?
