Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson committed what ESPN broadcaster Mike Tirico called "one of the all-time bonehead plays" tonight against the Dallas Cowboys, spiking the football and celebrating a 61-yard touchdown -- before he crossed the goal line. That means it wasn't a touchdown at all -- it was a 60-yard reception that ended with a fumble at the 1-yard line. Fortunately for Jackson, however, two other people made mistakes on the play: The nearest official, who signaled a touchdown, and the nearest Cowboy, Adam "Pacman" Jones, who assumed it was a touchdown and failed to pounce on the ball when Jackson dropped it.
If the official on the field had realized what happened, and if Pacman had jumped on the ball, it would have been the Cowboys' ball at the 1-yard line. Instead, although the Cowboys successfully challenged the play, it became a moot point because Eagles running back Brian Westbrook took a handoff and dove into the end zone on the next play.
But while the mistake will have no impact on the game's final score, Jackson deserves a place in football infamy, alongside Leon Lett.

How many millions of dollars do you have to pay a guy to hold the ball until he is in the end zone?

I am really tired of this celebration crap. Look at me, I scored. Football is a team game and it takes 11 guys to score. One guy has the priveledge of going over the goal line. Man I hate that stuff. I would cut this guy tomorrow, I swear to God.

Let's not get carried away with the Lett comparison. That was the Super Bowl after all.
Being that they scored, this could be the best thing that could have happened for DJ and the Eagles since he could stand to get knocked down a peg or two. A first round talent with a free agent head. There's a reason he slipped down to the 2nd round and why after the draft some were wondering if fellow Cal draftee Lavelle Hawkins wasn't the better prospect of the two.
Tough to get on the ref for that, but it's that much harder to swallow after yesterday's Den/SD incident. We might see the zebras swallowing their whistles in coming weeks knowing that a review of the play will be coming.

Idiot, rookie mistake. This was a VERY dumb move though. I dont see how you could even do this. PLus, they said in one of his high-school championship games he did a swan dive from the 5 and came up a yard short and didnt score. He's a good player but sounds like another little kid.

I think he's done something like this before.

• DeSean Jackson had broken free for an apparent 53-yard touchdown reception in the 2005 Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome when he spread his arms in a swan dive and dove toward the end zone. He landed at the 1-yard line. Fortunately for him, Jackson caught seven passes for 141 yards and threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to earn MVP honors as his West team won 35-3. "I redeemed myself with a great game," the Long Beach, Calif., athlete said. "It was a little embarrassing, but I did it, so I just had to move on."
Looks like he has a premature TD celebration problem but other than that he's a good WR.

First, I am no Pac-Man fan, but he did not blow it on the play. If you watch the replay he turns to go for the ball, as he does he looks at the ref who is signaling TouchDown, so he stops and does not pick up the ball. Don't pick on Pac-Man for this. But what a joke that everyone has to celebrate for doing thier job and this idiot (Jackson) doesn't even realize he has not made it into the endzone. To top it all jackson has doen the EXACT same thing before. Every 5th grader knows to cross the goal line but this jerk is getting how manmy millions and he will still get paid. In the real world alot of times you don't even get paid when you do your job right. To bad they will all talk about his skills rather than his brains and cut him now and nobody should sign him.

The Eagles were lucky that their first game was against a very weak team, the Rams. If it had been any other team in the NFL, they wouldn't have a win yet for this season. If the Eagles play their future games like they did against Dallas, they'll be spectators in Tampa and not players. Coach Reed should have left Jackson in Dallas with T.O. to learn how to score TD's.

That's my point. He's paid to score, not to publicly stroke his own precious tool. The line gave DMc the time to throw, and the downfield guys gave him the open. He owes them the TD. Period.
Who give a rats if it's a "rookie move"? His coaches have been telling him to hold the ball across the line since he was in junior high. Sweet Jesus.

Do you need glasses, He could not have seen the end zone to spike the ball early or take him back to ball running 101 cross the goal line first and drop the ball NO celebration at all may be that way he can cross over first before his bone head move now how dumb is that this guy when to college right

How can you say he "assumed" it was a touchdown (Pacman)? The line official signalled that Jackson had crossed the line (which anyone with eyes could clearly see that he had not) which means the play is DEAD! You cannot go after the ball! The line officials judgments prove worse and worse each year (a couple of field goal attempts last year seem to come to mind), they simply do not know the rules or evidently how to watch a ball cross a two-dimensional plane in space...it wasn't even close. But the players are told to stop playing upon signal from the officials; the officials are the ones who simply don't know what they're doing.

The Philadelphia Eagles , as a professional team of NFL, is one of the major teams that have fans all around the world. It’s quite normal if Philadelphia Eagles are so pricy because such worth any price. It doesn’t matter if we pay a respected amount of money for Eagles tickets because we satisfy our eagerness to watch good games and more than that, when we get Philadelphia Eagles ticket , It’s because we love this team. Thus, Philadelphia Eagles tickets prices will never be a problem for a real fan of the team.
