The Houston Texans just sent out a press release indicating that the Ravens-Texans match up will occur on Monday night instead of Sunday due to Hurricane Ike:
Due to the importance of allowing the Houston area to focus on its recovery from the expected arrival of Hurricane Ike on Friday, the Houston Texans' home game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens has been re-scheduled for Monday night at Reliant Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Houston time (8:30 p.m. ET). The game originally was scheduled to be played on Sunday, September 14 at 3:15 p.m. Houston Time (4:15 p.m. ET).
The Texans-Ravens Monday night game will be televised on local CBS stations in the primary and secondary markets of the Texans (Houston, Beaumont-Port Arthur, and Bryan, Texas) and the Ravens (Baltimore; Washington, DC; Salisbury, MD; and Harrisburg, PA).
If the
city is in good enough condition to host a football game on Monday, I for one, will be all too happy to be there.

What a terrible decision. So what happens when on Sunday they discover the area is too devastated to support the game on Monday night? They cancel the game? Why not just move the game to another city or to Baltimore. If it's in Baltimore you're guaranteed a sellout and can donate the money to a hurricane relief fund or something. The last thing people in Houston are going to be worry about on Monday is trying to get to a football game.

I'm suprised this game isn't being moved to Baltimore or somewhere out of Hurricane Ike's path.

I think the game should be moved to Baltimore and still held on Sunday. The game should not be re-scheduled due to HURRICANE IKE. Aslo I agree with the other person who replied to this and the money should be donated to the hurricane relief fund. Maybe it will happen who know.?

You all underestimate us in Houston. The first thing we will want after making sure our property and families are okay is Football. If we have power let there be football. Even with the hurricane coming the game will most likely be a packed house. The only people that really left the area are along the coast. Most of the city and the surrounding areas are still here. They won't move the game because the people in Houston would be upset about the loss of a home game.

Amen, Brother Brian! Don't forget to mention that if this game does not happen in Houston, we won't have another chance to see a home game until October 5th against the Colts (http://www.houstontexans.com/team/schedule.html). That is not acceptable. Let us pay for our own damages and just give us FOOTBALL!!!
~ In all seriousness, these comments are contingent on Ike behaving and not unleashing his namesake's wrath. As long as he plays ball, so can we.
GO TEXANS!!!!!!!

Argh, I hate that it came to this.
1 - it won't be televised in Austin, where I live.
2 - one less day to prep for the next game.
3 - it's our home opener, and depending on how the flooding goes, there might be a sparse crowd.
But mainly - #1. : (

Diehard Chris-
I think it WILL be televised where you live. I think they will be showing it on ESPN 2 from what I heard on the radio. The General in his blog said that because of the weird circumstances, the blackout rule doesn't apply.
/fixing to get out of dodge.
