So what do you do when your subpar, inexperienced quarterback goes down yet again to injury in week one and your only remaining backups are a scrambling schlub and a 35 year old retread that threw 13 INTs to 11 TDs last year in 11 games? You combine them, of course!
Following in the grand tradition of NFL coaches trying to adopt a multiple quarterback approach and failing miserably, the Kansas City Chiefs have elected to dabble in dual quarterback systems with Damon Huard and Tyler Thigpen while Brodie Croyle recovers from yet another injury, according to a report from ESPN.
At this point you may be asking yourself, "Who in the name of Steve Bono is Tyler Thigpen?" I'm glad you asked! Thigpen, a second year man out of Coastal Carolina, has thrown six whole passes in the NFL, three of them complete! That's 50% for those of you not keen on math. Sure, one of them was to the other team, but that still counts in my book, buddy!
Herm Edwards neglected to say specifically that they would be employing a dual quarterback system, but since Thigpen's going to play, and is completely unprepared to do so, and Damon Huard is very prepared to play, since he's old as dirt, but completely physically inept, I'd guess you're going to see the second coming of Tebow/Leak. Only without the talent, success, or coed harems.
In all honesty, though, this is a positive step. It would be easy for Edwards to stick with Huard, win as many games as possible to improve his standing, and ignore the obvious need for development at the quarterback and all other positions. Instead, he can focus on controlling the ball with Huard, while still giving Thigpen, a more athletic quarterback with better mobility and arm strength, the opportunity to make a name for himself. At this point, it can't hurt. I mean, the offense will still writhe in agony like a swamp rat caught under a tractor, but at least there will be a level of excitement.

THAT makes sense. Way to go Herm. Thank God he's not our coach anymore. I can't believe their management would let this happen. Oh wait.... It's the Chefs (yes Chefs). They probably encouraged it. Another season in the tank already KC. Good job!

Well I'm so happy someone finally admits that Damon Huard is a bad QB. Dolphin fans have known this for years and finally Chiefs fans can feel the same pain.

Peter King , Have you no shame? Yes we all know about how your were Embarressed years ago during an interview while answering a question that had to do with the Chiefs....but don't you think by now you could have gotten over it..? don't you think it's time you take off your diaper's and behave like a man?..........don't you think you should at least let everyone know when your going to be an honest reporter instead of continue to spew out nothing but negative stuff about the chiefs?...again I say ....Sir have you no Shame????

by the way Bernard Pollard's hit was Clean. and what happened to Tom Brady was nothing more than Karma......as you can see by the score of the game.....once a team like the Patriots are "EXPOSED" for the Cheaters they are for using video tapes of play signals from their opponent's...you can see a low scoring game instead of the blow-out's 52 to 7 like you'd see (AB-Normally) before. In my opinion they(the League) should have Stripped the Patriot's of all their championships and banned their coach for at least 5 years from the NFL....if for no other reason to send a signal that there are consequense's to cheating in the NFL...oh and by the way the leaque should have someone investigate those Referee's who work patriot game's so that all those holding penalties patriot players are not getting called for....can get exposed as well......

Duh its obvious, fire herm for being a dolt. Fire Peterson for not drafting lineman or getting a qb out of free agency. Two obvious needs that they failed to address. Even in the fifth round last year, Dixon, Colt Brennen, and Ainge were all available and they drafeted a division two corner.
If they want to fix the team, trade LJ to the browns for Brady Quinn or try to pick up david carr or Lienart somehow.

IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE THEY BROUGHT HERM EDWARDS IN TO DESTROY THE CHIEFS FAN BASE AND POSSIBLY MOVE THEM OUT OF KANSAS CITY. I AM A KANSAS CITY NATIVE, I WAS BORN THERE, WENT TO SCHOOL THERE AND EVEN WENT TO THE LIBERTY CAMP TO TRY OUT FOR A POSITION ON THE TEAM. THAT WAS DURING THE HANK STRAM ERA. I AM TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY WENT AFTER SUCH A BAD COACH. THIS GUY HAS A HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING ANY GAME PLAN. KC SHOULD CUT THEIR LOSES AND GET RID OF THIS GUY AND HIS STAFF. THE ONLY ONE I WOULD KEEP IS GUNTHER CUNNINGHAM HE IS STILL WORKING ON THE DEFENSIVE SET. SHOOT BOTH OF THE BACK UP QB'S AND START OVER.

OK! The Chiefs Suck!!! So let's start doing something now to get ready to turn things around in a couple of years. New Coach? Yes. My thought is to start looking for a college coach that we can bring up and that can get some energy into a very lazy non-motivated team. New QB? Obviously. We've got an old guy, a young guy that can' throw, and decent guy that always gets hurt (and I understand that part of that is the OL, but Marino never had great OL's and he didn't get hurt half this much). Let's look for a young guy with potential for the next couple of years, and suprise everyone when he's our franchise QB in 2-3 years. The only person I can think of right now is that Bartel kid from Dallas. He had some potential for the future, the cowboys just wanted someone for this season. Not sure why cause if HOMO goes out, they're screwed. Let's start there, at the heart of the team, and work our way out.

Yesterdays loss to the Raiders was probably the most embarassing game I've ever witnesses as a Chiefs fan. Herm Edwards needs to be fired! If this team wants to rebuild, let's start with the Head Coach position. Get Bill Cowher into KC and offer him some money. And while we're at it, trade LJ away while people think he's still worth something. His OL should turn around and punch him every time he runs into there backsides. Maybe he would gain more yards if he ran....get this.....AROUND/BETWEEN his OL. Maybe LJ and a late draft pick for Brady Quinn from the Browns.

Instead of Baskin Robbins, we are stuck with one vanilla flavor: run for 1-2 yards 1st down, 1-2 yard loss 2nd down, quarterback sack/ incompletion 3rd down & punt 4th down. Why is it that we take shots down the field when we are 2 touchdowns down, heck we should have the mind set that we are always down. Throw the dang-gum ball deep in the middle of the field. We're gonna punt it anyway, so why not give our team MVP (punter) a break. Losing to the Raiders is the low light if this franchise. King Carl is more like the 2 of hearts in a game of spades.....dis-carl-ed!!!!!!
