According to the St. Petersburg Times, Brian Griese took all of the first-team snaps in the Buccaneers walkthrough on Wednesday, and is expected to start the teams week two contest against Atlanta. Jeff Garcia, meanwhile, was nowhere to be found. Fortunately, for Tampa Bay, Jon Gruden makes it a habit to keep 56 quarterbacks around, almost as if they grow on trees.
Garcia suffered a sprained ankle in Sunday's loss at New Orleans, and was initially listed as questionable for this Sunday's home opener. It now appears that he's going to be out.
Griese will be making his first start for the Buccaneers since 2005 when his season was cut short by a torn ACL. He spent the previous two seasons performing mop up duty for Rex Grossman in Chicago.

Jeff Garcia saved Grudens job last year when he led the Bucs into the playoffs. Gruden has a love/hate relationship with his QB's and after treating Garcia very badly this off season he is now yanking him from the starting lineup. It isn't any injury its just Grudens way of paying Garcia back for stating to the media that the Bucs offense is much to complicated.

Right now, Garcia is not mentally sharp He appears to be distracted by something. Maybe it's physical, not being 100 percent. Maybe he's still distracted by the Brett Favre situation or by his failed efforts to get a lucrative contract extension this past offseason.
The fact is he had "happy feet" in New Orleans and on fourth-and-6 from the New Orleans 24 with 38 seconds left he threw to Antonio Bryant, who was on the first down line at the New Orleans 18-yard - unfortunately he was double covered. He didn't see Joey Galloway open in the end zone or Ike Hilliard, who was fabulous during the game, running a crossing route similar to Bryant and was also open. Poor decisions in Gruden's offense usually means benching ask Clayton.
