You are about to read a sentence that probably hasn't been published for a long time when discussing the Baltimore Ravens. The quarterback situation looks to be in pretty good hands.Rookie Joe Flacco got to extend his stay for at least another weekend as Ravens starter after an impressive first game against Cincinnati, that included 15 of 29 for 129 and added a 38-yard touchdown dash, the longest run in NFL history by a quarterback in his first start.
"I think he had already earned a lot of confidence because of the way he had conducted himself and the way he prepared," head coach John Harbaugh said. "Our guys were not surprised by the way he handled himself. But certainly by winning the football game, the players were excited for him."Obviously getting super excited about a win against the atrocious looking Bengals isn't going to define your season, but it is a small step for a position the Ravens have always struggled with. The defense looked a lot tougher and quicker than some thought would come from an aging unit and if this team can continue to scrap out victories as it is so prone to do, maybe it won't be as bad as expected. Also, thinking about Ray Lewis dogging a guy that went to school at the University of Delaware is pure daydreaming comedy.
"In true NFL and Ravens fashion, he was brought down to earth by the players on a regular basis today," said Harbaugh, who declined to go into specifics on the antics of Flacco's teammates. "They were letting him know that it's a team game. He's receptive to that because that's the kind of guy he is. He had a lot of fun with it."Flacco will face a Texans defense that held allowed Ben Roethlisberger to throw 137 total passing yards and two touchdowns on 13 of 14 passes.

You wrote "Flacco will face a Texans defense that held Ben Roethlisberger to just 137 total passing yards and sacked him twice." Pretty misleading. How about Flacco will face a Texans defense that allowed Ben Roethlisberger to go 13 of 14 passing with 2 touchdowns before he left the game with a 35-3 lead. They also allowed about 200 yds rushing with Willie Parker scoring 3 touchdowns.

The Bengals were terrible Sunday. That made the Ravens look almost good. But the Ravens are not good. And they will be 6-10 at the end of the season. The Ravens management are bush league. They are so stupid, it''s sad. But you will see by year end. They are pathetic.
The Texans may beat the Ravens. Who cares? The Ravens won't get past enough teams who mean something to even SMELL a playoff slot. You actually think Flacco is going to be a competant first year Q-B ??? Can I have some of what you're smokin'?

Don't be a hater. Keep your venom to yourself; its not constructive nor is it good for you overall wellbeing. Are people still jealous that we won a superbowl so early in our history.

Dude, paul, why are you hating man? The Ravens made the Bengals LOOK pathetic, not the Bengals are pathetic. Face it man with the great defense back, Baltimore is poised for a return to the football elite! and Flacco is a beast. But that's cause im Whacko for Flacco!

stop hating on the ravens the only thing that flacco has to watch out for is mario williams and i think lorenzo neal might have something to say about that. Im predicting a lorenzo neal block party and big time touchdown completion from the big arm of flacco to speedster mark clayton, Cam is going to unleash that huge arm.
CALL IT baby,
Also lets go terps beat CAL!!!!!!!

You dudes continue to delude yourselves. I mean what else is there to do in Baltimore? Your kicker Matt Stover is your best player. He wins most games for you, not your offense. Ever ask yourselves why you don't have a world-class quarterback?Quit living in the past. Quit dwelling on that fluky Super Bowl win. One win does not mean much; it means nothing really. The Ravens management hires inexperienced people, then crosses their fingers and hopes for the best. That's not how you build a strong organization.

The reality in Baltimore is that the fans aren't verbal enough. They praised Billick high and low, everyday; right up to the day the Ravens fired him. You never hear Steve Davis or anybody else for that matter, criticize Ravens management. Because it isn't popular. But the Ravens have been losing for 7 years, getting progressively worse. I think Bisciotti is running out of money. Just like Peter Angelos, won't spend the money for experienced, proven performers. Just hires talented unknowns and hopes for the best. What a strategy!! The Ravens will continue to lose enough games that they will just be another team going home in December.

BALTIMORE NEVER REALLY PRAISED BILLICK FOR HIS CHOICES AT THE HELM OF QB.... BOLLER WAS HIS BOY.... AND AS SOME COACHES SAY "WE ALL KNOW WHAT BOLLER CAN DO". ......
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THIS TEAM...THE RAVENS WILL DO MUCH BETTER THAN THE ANTICIPATED 4 AND 12 THAT MIKE AND MIKE HAVE THEM FINISHING UP.

Absolutely you're right Beth. the Ravens are good for a 6-10 finish this year. And hopefully this will be Harbaugh's last year. But I'm not counting on it. It will probably take three more losing years until Bisciotti figures out something's wrong.
