Titans fans, we may already have a quarterback controversy. After watching Vince Young struggle to get anything going for three and a half quarters, Kerry Collins came in to Wally Pipp him after Young suffered a knee injury. Young had struggled to get anything going all day--Collins threw two passes, completed both of them, drove the Titans 70 yards and led them to the insurance touchdown they needed.
There's no word on how long Young will be out, but after watching the two of them, you have to wonder if it even matters. As has been mentioned countless times, the Titans have a horrendous group of wide receivers. But while that's true, it's just as true that after Young went 11-for-22 for 110 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions, Collins was 2-for-2 for 65 yards. Stats can be misleading, and Bo Scaife's 44-yard catch-and-run from Collins was actually a little screen that turned into a big gain, but Young's continued inaccuracy makes that it's hard to argue that the Titans always have a better chance to win if he's in the game.
If Young's healthy next week, none of this will matter--he'll be back in the lineup. But if he misses some significant time and Collins looks good in his absence, there will be a lot of Titans fans who will be screaming for Collins. Fisher will probably turn the team back over to Young as soon as he's healthy--he's the franchise quarterback, but every Collins' success makes Young's struggles look a little worse.

Maybe we weren't watching the same game, my friend, but I saw several (3-4) great passes by Vince that were not caught.
I'm not saying that he was wonderful, but he was comparable to the toast of the NFL, David Garrard.
In addition, the passes by Collins were not really better or more accurate than anything Vince threw...but that's just what I think. I know it is much more fashionable to bash him.
I'm just glad they scored TDs on their two trips to the red zone.
Now if they'll just work on their 3rd down plays.

The difference in Collins and VY is Collins hits the receiver in stride so his momentum can carry him on down the field. Vince throws at the feet or behind the receiver so they have to stop and make an adjustment. The touchdown pass to Chris Johnson was all Johnson- he had to make a difficult catch which threw him off-balance and only his athleticism allowed him to get into the end zone. Vince will make a good throw 3-4 times a game, but the other 20 are what get him into trouble.
