Are the Eagles that good or are the Rams simply that bad? That is the question NFL fans are likely asking themselves after seeing Philadelphia destroy St. Louis by a score of 38-3 earlier today. I'd say it's a bit of both.Donovan McNabb didn't have his top two receiving threats in the line up to start the season, but as I mentioned before the game he didn't need them.
Donovan did what Andy Reid loves to do. He spread the ball around. Eight different Eagles caught passes and three of them totaled more than 100 receiving yards. DeSean Jackson led the way with six balls for 106 yards in his NFL debut. Maybe he can back up his big mouth.
On the second play from scrimmage, McNabb connected with Jackson for his first career reception which went for 47 yards. Welcome to the NFL, Mr. Jackson.
McNabb spread the ball around well and used all of the weapons at his disposal, but from my vantage point in the third row, it appeared as if Donovan was looking to DeSean first on almost every play before checking down to his other more experienced receivers. Eagles fans have to be excited about the potential in the new, exciting combination of McNabb to Jackson. I know I am.
Not only did DeSean lead the team in catches and yards receiving but he came just a few yards short of taking a punt return to the house. It's clear he is the kind of player that can change a game anytime the oposing team punts the ball. It's only a matter of time before he takes one to the house.
The quarterback play of number five was also exactly what Philadelphia Eagles fans had hoped for from a healthy McNabb. He finished the day 21 of 33 with 361 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. When Donovan McNabb is healthy and gets the kind of protection he got today, he's one of the best in the game.
I enjoyed the game from the third row at Lincoln Financial Field on a perfect day for football. More on my gameday experience later.

We are horrible ... can't be possbile to be further away from "the greatest show on turf." Surely time to move back to LA and get some reinvestment and a new direction.

What a great feeling it was to see a healthy McNabb and a team ready to play ! Granted, the rams weren't much of a challenge, but the rookie Jackson made some great catches while covered pretty well by the rams.

Hey, Ben
If a team's past performance dictates how they'll do in the present, then the Rams would have kicked your battery-throwing a**es up and down the field. See you next Monday night. We'll see if you're still talking that sh*t come next Tuesday.

PATHETIC. There is no other way to describe what has happened to the team that was to be the franchise of the 2000s. If the front office is unwilling to pay for the best available players, like Willie Anderson and John Lynch in key positions, why not just hang it up. I've been a Ram fan for 40 years, through thick and thin. This is as bad as it gets. The front office belongs in a Pop Warner League, not the NFL. You are all pathetic. if this is how you are going to play it, trade Bulger, Jackson, Carriker, Witherspoon, and Long and rebuild when you decide you want to be in the NFL. Because right now you don't even belong in Pop Warner or Division III of the NCAA.

Wow Ben nice stats, you guys sure did do a good job at kicking Quincy Carter and Vinny Testeverde's asses... You even beat us when we had Bledsoe a couple of times. You guys might have beaten those old Cowboy teams, but you aren't going to be able to stop Romo, T.O., Barber, Witten and Felix Jones.

I'm 54 years old and have been an Eagles fan since I was old enough to know what football was. In all my many years of bleeding green I can't recall a rookie with the magic this kid, DeSean Jackson, has brought to the table. A game breaker like Jackson will make things easier for his offensive team mates. No longer will teams be able to double team Westbrook, who is a complete pro and excellent in every way. Jackson will take a lot of heat off of everyone and possibly even prolong McNabbs career. Don't tell me that it's too early to get excited. I'm excited over the top and so is the rest of the city. Btw, retire #66!!! Bergy is the best player of all time at any position.
