The Jets-Dolphins game was everything you could have wanted. The game went down to wire with the Jets pulling out the 20-14 victory.Brett Favre was, at times, amazing. His two TD passes came on great plays by him: a beautiful play-action pass deep to Jerricho Cotchery and a gritty (and lucky) pass to Chansi Stuckey on a 4th-and-13. He managed the game very well and didn't do anything stupid.
Add to the fact that the Dolphins were very competitive -- which isn't a huge surprise to those who watched them last season.
Sure, Miami was a horrid 1-15 last year .. but it wasn't as if they were totally inept. They took the Washington Redskins into overtime before falling 16-13 at FedEx Field ... just the first of five games the Dolphins lost by exactly three points.
Today, the Dolphins kept that fight alive. Trailing 20-7, Miami rallied late with an amazing drive that ended with Chad Pennington's 11-yard TD pass to Derek Martin. After stuffing the Jets, Miami again waltzed down the field to the New York 18-yd line. After a couple tough incompletions, Pennington was picked off in the end zone and the game was over.
For Miami, it was just an extension of last season's tough losses. For New York, it was a nice debut for the much hyped Brett Favre Era in Gotham. It was far from perfect, but not bad for a team that added a lot of parts to a 4-12 team a season ago.
Favre will make his home debut in what will be a huge game with the New England Patriots. If the Jets think they are AFC East contenders, this would be a great opportunity to start down that road.
Miami will travel all the way out to Arizona to face the Cardinals.

Here we go with everyone saying Brett Favre is great. He got extremely lucky on that second touchdown throw. Plus the fact that the officials were clearly letting the Jets do whatever they wanted on offense and defense. c'mon, the playclock ran out on Favre twice during the game and the officials didn't do anything about it. The Jets got lucky and the Dolphins made a lot of stupid mistakes in the game. They will learn and hopefully be a lot better than last year.
Go Phins!!!!!!

I agree with Rob C.- The calls were terrible in that game, like when they called a personal foul on Matt Roth for a "roughing the passer", Brett didn't even have the ball and he was faking like he still had it, he wasn't even in the pocket any longer. But that's the kind of call Farve will get all season long. Besides, being a Dolphin fan I have come to expect bad calls. I think we will be better this year, I think Chad was a little nervous playing his old team.

I agree with Rob C. there were some bad calls in that game like when they called Matt Roth for roughing the passer. Farve had already gotten rid of the ball and was rolling out pretending that he still had the ball. I think the Dolphins will be better this year and I think Chad had a small case of nerves playing his old team. Being a Dolphin fan I am use to the bad calls and they never call holding on the Jets but they hold all of the time.

Thanks for agreeing with me Ce Ce. I agree that Chad had a case of nerves working on him going against the Jets , but I thought he settled down after the first. The biggest problem the Dolphins had was at the wide receiver spot. They really showed their inexpierence there. I think that if they pick up another receiver (Chad Jackson maybe), then they will increase their chances to win. I was very impressed with the young offensive and defensive lines and i truly believe that everything will gel with the team in the next few games. Not saying they will make the playoffs this year, but they will definatley be better than 1-15.

Brett Fraud. Aging veteran (read: "old man") who still thinks he can play. Beats a 1-15 (2007) team in 88 degree temperature. 2nd TD was lucky - to say the least. Fumbles away a turnover because cannot avoid sacks anymore. Hope New York fans are as forgiving as Green Bay fans were when the "bad games" happen - and they are coming. Especially when the temperature starts to drop and the winds start to kick in. With this QB, you get a lot of grit and a lot of heart, but the fact is he is in the twilight of his career, he is NOT on the upswing. He does NOT want to go through training camps, practices, etc. - he just wants to "play the game" (but not in cold weather - his own admission). Fine. Let the him "play the game". But after this is all said and done, he will become a GB alumni and the whole NYJ thing will make for a good trivia question - not unlike what was Montana's last team? or Emmitt's last team? or Namath's last team? or Michael Jordan's last team? Same crap, different player. Good Luck. (Now that Brady is out, maybe Favre will get NYJ to playoffs - but then again, so what. Montana did that in KC and then fizzled out.....)
