Remember the raging debate about Ken Whisenhunt and Anquan Boldin not being on speaking terms? Or the threat of Boldin walking out of training camp? Water under the bridge, dude.
He looks happy. He's laughing. He's saying all the right things. He wants to be a team player. He wants to smooth things over. He just wants to win.Apparently the only thing that changed was the season got closer, because Boldin leads on that he was never going to hold out or leave practice in the first place.
"It ain't worth it, man," Boldin said. "My teammates work too hard, and I know I'm a big part of the process with this program. If I held out or did anything like that, I'd be letting them down."As far as the coach is concerned, Boldin has maintained his leadership position with his teammates as well.
"I was asked that question earlier in camp, and I said I don't expect that to change, and I haven't seen that change, not as far as how he interacts with his teammates and what he does on the field," Whisenhunt said.Realistically, all is not merry in the mind of Boldin. You know he still wants the contract extension and feels slighted by the ridiculous proposition that he be paid half of what Larry Fitzgerald is paid. Can you really blame him? He's only human, and Fitz isn't twice the player he is. You do have to credit Boldin, however, for falling in line like a trooper and heading into the season with a business-like approach. He could have easily done a T.O. impression or held out and missed games a la Keenan McCardell in 2004.
Instead, Boldin's suiting up this weekend and hoping to help his team get a W, like any good leader should.
