I don't believe that this is happening again in the NFL. I don't ever remembering hearing any thing of this degree happening in the League when I was watching growing up in the 80's. I am a devoted life long Redskins Fan. I think that today's athletes are walking around with targets on thier chests some bigger than others. God bless the Jags organization and Collier's family and friends. The last thing the NFL needs right now is yet another tragic loss of talent, from some senseless act.

amazing, this guy is in the worng, yet we give all kind of suipport to Clemens kid. Who's to say Clemens kid was not in the wrong place, and this guy was just sitting in his car minding his own business, just like people tried to make Sean Taylor the violator, when he was in his own home, not late night clubbing it, and still for some strange reason some stated Sean Taylor was getting his just dues...when will we as a nation of people ever truly achieve this balance and peace (for all our american people) that we speak of...

Marcellus Wiley (who played with both Kenny Pettway and Richard Collier on the Jacksonville Jaguars) talked to Pettway and gives some FANTASTIC and insightful commentary on his Prolebrity.com blog about the Collier shooting:

The problem is that many of these young atheletes are plucked from violent, rough communities. In an effort to keep it "real" and not "dis" their friends from the hood, they continue to associate with people they grew up with in the hood, and others who they've newly befriended, so as to show, eventhough they are famous, have the bling, and making the cash, they are still "down."
This is a deadly mistake. When you leave the hood, consider it a closed chapter. Any friends you want to continue seeing, see them on your new turf. What happened to Collier could have been avoided.
